ABC has decided to run the season (likely series) finale of Detroit 1-8-7 this Sunday, March 20th, at 10pm. The freshman drama is airing on a special night because it was pre-empted by a 20/20 special featuring an interview with Charlie Sheen a couple weeks ago.
Detroit 1-8-7 is, of course, highly unlikely to return for season two. The TV series’ ratings have been terrible and just about anything else the network has put on in its place has performed better. It’s currently averaging a very disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.64 million viewers. That makes Detroit 1-8-7 the lowest-rated scripted series still on the network. Tuesday’s installment registered just a 1.2 in the demo.
Here’s the finale description from ABC:
SEASON FINALE
FITCH FACES OFF AGAINST HIS RUTHLESS NEW YORK ADVERSARY, ALBERT STRAM, WHILE HIS LIFE, THAT OF HIS SON AND THE REST OF THE SQUAD HANG IN THE BALANCE, ON THE SEASON FINALE OF ABC’S “DETROIT 1-8-7” Michael Imperioli’s Real Life Son, Vadim, Continues in His Guest Starring Role as Fitch’s Son, Bobby
“Blackout” – Fitch’s past comes back to haunt him when his old New York nemesis, Albert Stram, makes his presence known in Detroit just as the veteran detective is enjoying spending time with his son, Bobby. Stram’s not so subtle threats shake the usually unflappable Fitch. Meanwhile, the other detectives are called to the scene of a horrific homicide to find an entire family brutally murdered. Fitch tries to put the pieces of the puzzle together and it leads him to a devastating conclusion. With his back against the wall, Fitch asks Washington to protect Bobby, then leads Longford and Mahajan on an extremely dangerous mission to trap Stram; but which side of the law will he come down on in order to save his family and those in the squad? Meanwhile, Longford has second thoughts about his retirement; but is it too late? It’s a crucial turning point in the lives of all the detectives, on the Season Finale of “Detroit 1-8-7,” SUNDAY, MARCH 20 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

I don’t know why it didn’t catch on, but it has been my favorite show all season…never missed it> Great stories, good acting, good city……? I can’t figure it out?
We absolutely LOVED Detroit 1-8-7!!! We are extremely sad to hear it won’t be back for a 2nd season. Bad decision by the network!!!
This is on of the best cop show on TV right now, my mother and I look forward to seeing it every week so much so I put a reminder on my iPhone and even record the episodes so we do not miss it. The actor are all amazing in there rolls, the story line are great. Please give us a season 2.
I can’t understand your even thinking about canceling this show.
AAAAHHHH!!! Every show I love gets cancelled!!!! What is wrong with America, does it require too much brain power to watch something other than Dancing with the Stars and the Bachelor season 34!!!! It is really a tragedy that is show is going off the air. The writing is great and the acting is EXCELLENT!!!!! I met Michael Imperioli many years ago at a function my husband performed at for the Sopranos. He is an amazing actor and a true gentleman. I’ll have to add this show the growing list of intelligent, witty shows that are no longer on, Third… Read more »
As always, ABC wants to cancel another great series. Detroit 187 is an excellent show with great acting and believable storyline. There’s so much junk on tv now a days it’s hard to find something this good. Please do not cancel this series. Listen to the viewers.
Great show being a ret. Police officer the show felt real.
Keep it going maybe a different day or time it will catch on
The series is awesome. Please renew it or move it to cable. The final episode was riveting and kept me guessing the whole hour. Great writing and acting!
My husband and I have watched this show from the beginning and it has steadily gotten better each week. We get up at 5 am wo we DVR each show watch it the next night. We would hate to see this show cancelled, as the acting is excellent and we enjoy seeing the scenes of Detroit, some of them quite spectacular, each week. Story lines have gotten better over the season.
Keep this show on for twom more avid viewers. The best show on TV
It’s the only ABC show I watch. Can’t imagine why it would be cancelled. Great chemistry between cast members and one of the few believable cop shows on TV.
I love this show!! I watched it every week. So sorry to see it going off the air. ):
hand’s down, the best show on any network. with jagged chemistry, exceptional story lines
and Michael Imperioli…
I think this is one of the best shows on tv. Powerful acting, and good story
lines. I don’t understand why good shows are taking off the air and some dumb reality shows are kept on. I personally looked forward to seeing each persons personal storyline as well as their parts as detectives. Please don’t take this show off!!!
Please renew this series for another season!! Best acting, dialogue, and scripts!
Please don’t cancel. This is the best new show of this season. Michael Imperioli is the greatest and all the cast members work well together. I care about the characters and look forward to each week (if only it was shown each week instead of whenever the network feel’s like it). Preempting for Charlie Sheen was a blow to the intelligence of people.
