Grimm has done very well for NBC on Friday nights and is one of their highest-rated dramas. How has Dracula been performing? Is it safe or likely to be cancelled?
Based on the classic Bram Stoker story, Dracula takes place in London. The title character (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) poses as an American entrepreneur while he seeks revenge on those who cursed him. He doesn’t count on falling in love with a woman (Jessica De Gouw) who looks like his deceased wife. Others in the cast include Thomas Kretschmann, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Victoria Smurfit, Katie McGrath, and Nonso Anozie.
The series debuted on October 25th to a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.26 million viewers. This was a very respectable performance for a Friday airing.
Unfortunately, the ratings took a big dive in week two and then again in week three, falling to a 0.9 rating with 2.96 million.

After seven episodes, Dracula is now averaging a 1.1 in the demo and 3.46 million viewers. Unless the next few episodes see a good-size gain, the averages will keep dropping.
With ratings like these, it would seem unlikely that NBC would want to order a second season. However, the network has partnered with Sky Living on the series, decreasing their costs. Dracula started airing in the UK on Sky Living last Halloween.
It’s also worth noting that NBC renewed Hannibal last spring and that show drew even worse numbers on Thursdays.
So, essentially, Dracula’s fate could go either way. We’ll have to wait and see whether it will be cancelled or renewed for a second season.
But, what do you think? Do you like Dracula? Do you think it should be renewed or cancelled?
Love the Show!!!!! Look forward to next season.
Love the show!!!! Think you should renew it.
I really enjoyed watching this show , I think it’s the best show on tv . Great characters and great acting, I hope nbc will pick up this show for a second season.
Wow. It makes me wonder exactly who comes up with these numbers. EVERYONE I know loves this show. I swear if they cancel this show, I will picket the heck out of NBC! Kidding. well kinda. Please don’t take my favorite show away. I will turn the channel and never go back.
The opening to the series was interesting, the final episode of season 1 felt like it moved the story forward. I think the main problem the series has in the first season is that the in between episodes felt like a lot of filler. It was nice to get to “know” the characters but when taken over all I could have watched ep 1 & 10 then combined the important parts of the other 8 into one episode. That being said the series may be just hitting it stride and deserves at least 1 more season. There is a lot… Read more »
Dracula is the best version I’ve seen and I have seen them all. I am 72 and this show is a masterpiece.
Its very well done. I look forward to Friday nights of Grimm and Dracula. This one should be renewed.
If this gets canceled, the only very good series around will be Game of Thrones. Theres still American Horror Story and The Walking Dead, but they arent as good as GoT or Dracula. JRM is a fantastic Dracula and the Dracula in this series is the best one since I can remember. You cant predict him, he surprises you all the time to good or worse. And the ambiance of that age is captured just perfectly. Whats up with the cancellation of good series anyway? Sarah Connor Chronicles? Axed. Firefly? Axed. Stargate Universe? Axed. Camelot? Axed. Legend of the Seeker?… Read more »
I love this serie, I never see NBC before and Dracula is motivating me to see more series in this channel. Dracula is exiting and I would like to see what happens with Mina and Grayson. Iam from Puerto Rico and please consider there are a LOTS of Fans of these season here and we waiting for the season two.
I love this show and would be so sad to see it go. I hope that I get to see more of this intriguing series. It is one series I look forward to watching any day of the week!! It’s on my DVR so I will never miss a show! It was hard in the beginning when you had to wait 3 weeks for another episode and it was just starting out. I stuck it through and gave it a chance and I do not regret. It got better and better. Lots of Love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If NBC cancels Dracula, I will NEVER watch anything on NBC EVER AGAIN!!!!
I love the program; if Friday night is a bad time, move it to Tuesday night or Monday night. This is the best new renovation of the Dracula mythos I have seen in decades. Before this program, I almost never watched NBC.
l love the serie is gripping, intense, enigmatic, unique and romantic. I believe the second season will draw more viewers after this finale.
Dracula May have started off a little slow but it has picked up the pace trifold! I love the way they have the original characters and weave them into an original story all their own! And I hold my breath for the season 2 opener and the morning after with “Dracula and his Love” so don’t make me turn blue NBC! Lol
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? CANCEL THIS SHOW WHEN THERE ARE THOSE FORMULAIC CRIME BORES OUT THERE.. THIS IS A GREAT COMPLIMENT TO GRIMM
FRIDAY NIGHTS ARE LIGHTS OUT FOR MOST GREAT SHOWS .. THIS GREAT SHOW SHOULD STAY AND BE RENEWED.. THE SETS, PROPS, COSTUMES AND ACTING ARE ALL FIRST RATE.
IT IS EVEN A TWIST FOR THE BETTER ON BRAM STOKER’S NOVEL.. FOR ONCE A SOMEWHAT SYMPATHETIC DRACULA.. THAT IS NOT ALL EVIL
