East New York was cancelled by CBS earlier this week, but there is still some hope that the series could be saved and renewed for a second season. The show’s studio, Warner Bros Television, had started to informally shop the series to other outlets in recent weeks when renewal talks with CBS weren’t going as well as hoped.
Starring Amanda Warren, Jimmy Smits, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Kevin Rankin, Richard Kind, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Olivia Luccardi, and Lavel Schley, East New York revolves around the officers and detectives of the 74th precinct in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Per Deadline, East New York had been on track for a renewal — until the cancellation of SWAT was rescinded. The two police dramas were essentially competing for the same time slot, so the newer drama ended up being the loser.
With a loyal following of viewers, there has been some backlash following the drama’s cancellation and the studio is looking for a new home. Those efforts are complicated now that the WGA strike is underway.
Mike Flynn, co-creator of the CBS series, told fans of the series to stay tuned in a post on Instagram.

East New York is an excellent, well written and acted series. I look forward to each new episode. Please renew it for a second season. This series and The Equalizer are the best things on Sunday TV. Our whole family loves it.

East New York is a great cop show. Need more like this that are somewhat believable vs a super swat team. Great acting and storylines. Truly sorry to hear that cancellation is being considered.
I am surprised that they are canceling this strong
provocative show that has a strong black female as its lead. Something has to be done so that this could be uncanceled or that it can find a new home
Absolutely renew East New York! I switched from another show to watch EAST NEW YORK. Excellent story lines, acting superb and the portrayal of competent, professional women is EXCELLENT….please renew and/or find another home for it!

Please keep East New York. It’s a great show with developed characters that make it interesting and worth watching. It has action, drama, humor, and compassion. It includes moral and ethical topics that are current with today’s environment. SWAT’s episodes have become repetitive and redundant. ENY is new and refreshing. Please bring it back!!
