East New York was cancelled by CBS earlier this week, but there is still some hope that the series could be saved and renewed for a second season. The show’s studio, Warner Bros Television, had started to informally shop the series to other outlets in recent weeks when renewal talks with CBS weren’t going as well as hoped.
Starring Amanda Warren, Jimmy Smits, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Kevin Rankin, Richard Kind, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Olivia Luccardi, and Lavel Schley, East New York revolves around the officers and detectives of the 74th precinct in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Per Deadline, East New York had been on track for a renewal — until the cancellation of SWAT was rescinded. The two police dramas were essentially competing for the same time slot, so the newer drama ended up being the loser.
With a loyal following of viewers, there has been some backlash following the drama’s cancellation and the studio is looking for a new home. Those efforts are complicated now that the WGA strike is underway.
Mike Flynn, co-creator of the CBS series, told fans of the series to stay tuned in a post on Instagram.

They keep shows like young Sheldon which is stupid but cancel a show based on reality.
I was disappointed by the many preemptions during the season. So many episodes preempted by specials. Bring this show back please.

I would watch the show on either any of these networks. This was one of the best shows this year. I believe it could do better in another timeslot. CVS is famous on Sundays to let the sports run over which pushes everything back. You never know what time the shows are coming on, if you’re trying to tape it, you have to tape a half an hour before and a half an hour after the usual scheduled time because you don’t know and even then you don’t get the whole show because it could be more than that. This series is one of my favorites. Well written and acted. You get very involved in the character’s lives. I would love to see another network picking it up for another season.
East New York is a great show with a great cast. Maybe move it to a different day/time slot would open up to a larger audience. I seem to recall this is what happened to Blue Bloods.
A very well done show that tackles the tough issues. This is the type of show that needs to given time and grow its fan base even more b
East New York has got me hooked! Great cast, relatable characters, interesting plot lines. Makes me feel invested in the community and the cops who work there. Please don’t cancel an enjoyable and truly diverse show. When you have a winner you should support it and the audience will support you!
East new York needs to be renewed or returned to tv someway. It’s heads above fire country which cbs renewed even though the episodes are trite and predictable

Please renew East New York. There are so many more stories to tell and the characters have such depth. We would be robbed of the development of these interesting characters. Can’t say that about many network shows very often. The show is riveting entertainment with inventive storylines. The country deserves more of East New York!
East New York is one of the most interesting new series. It has a cast of very diverse and complex characters. Please don’t cancel it! It is so much better than so many other shows. I would definitely watch it wherever it is!
