East New York was cancelled by CBS earlier this week, but there is still some hope that the series could be saved and renewed for a second season. The show’s studio, Warner Bros Television, had started to informally shop the series to other outlets in recent weeks when renewal talks with CBS weren’t going as well as hoped.
Starring Amanda Warren, Jimmy Smits, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Kevin Rankin, Richard Kind, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Olivia Luccardi, and Lavel Schley, East New York revolves around the officers and detectives of the 74th precinct in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Per Deadline, East New York had been on track for a renewal — until the cancellation of SWAT was rescinded. The two police dramas were essentially competing for the same time slot, so the newer drama ended up being the loser.
With a loyal following of viewers, there has been some backlash following the drama’s cancellation and the studio is looking for a new home. Those efforts are complicated now that the WGA strike is underway.
Mike Flynn, co-creator of the CBS series, told fans of the series to stay tuned in a post on Instagram.

East New York is quite a good show, and deserves another season.
I can’t believe East New York is being cancelled as it is my favorite network show with a great cast and story lines. Definitely a bonehead decision by the network!
I would watch the show no matter where it lands. I want Jimmy Smith to have one show that is not cancelled after the 1st season. Love the entire cast. Great show.
East New York is a great show and I’d watch it on whatever network it was on. CBS is showing no consideration for its viewers lately. They are cancelling popular shows like Magnum PI, Swat, East New York, and, I believe All Rise. Two of these shows have moved to other networks and they changed their minds about a third. I will be less likely to get invested in future CBS shows because of their concerning renewal pattern which has nothing to do with how good the show is and how many people are watching.
What a shame . I was really ebjoying this series. I truly hope it comes back. Moving from cbs would not be such a bad thing.
Keep East New York! If you must cancel a show, get rid of lame Fire Country!
East NY is a great show that deserves a 2nd season. I’ll watch it on whichever network it ends up on! I agree with the previous comment about canceling Blue Bloods. Enough already.
It is a good show and needs a chance to grow,.I like their storylines.
