It looks like the magic is over for the three ladies of Eastwick. ABC network has decided against ordering any additional episodes of the supernatural series, effectively cancelling it.
Eastwick revolves around three women (Rebecca Romijn, Lindsay Price, and Jaime Ray Newman) who meet at a wishing fountain and become friends. Soonafter, mysterious Darryl Van Horne (Paul Gross) moves to town and unleashes powers within the ladies. The cast also includes Ashley Benson, Johann Urb, Jon Bernthal, Sara Rue, and Veronica Cartwright.
The show got off to a slow start on September 23rd with a 3.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and 8.5 million total viewers. The second installment fell to a 2.3 in the demo and 6.57 million viewers. The third week fell again to a 1.8 and 5.14 million.

In the weeks that followed, the ratings didn’t get any better and more frequently got worse. Last week, Eastwick hit an all-time low of 1.5 in the demo and 4.4 million.
ABC has opted to pull the show from the schedule for two weeks. This Wednesday, it’s replaced by the Country Music Awards. Next week, it’s being bumped for an interview special called In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts: Janet Jackson. Though Eastwick is scheduled to return on Thanksgiving eve with a new episode, the supernatural drama won’t be around for long after that.
ABC has decided not to order any additional episodes of Eastwick, effectively cancelling the series after 13 episodes. It’s unknown if the last episode will wrap up the ongoing storylines. For now, ABC plans to air all six remaining installments but, if the ratings keep declining, the network could easily pull the series before that happens.
What do you think? Why did Eastwick fail? Do you think ABC will really air all of the 13 episodes?

Just watched what I guess is the last Eastwick. ABC always tries new types of shows, then always cancels them. I personally have vowed never to watch a new drama on ABC ever again…
I loved this show. I swore off ABC when they cancelled Invasion and didn’t watch any new shows until this one. This does it for me, I loved this show. I’ll never watch another new series if it’s on ABC. They cancel them too soon, many are slow starters. Given a chance maybe this one would have caught on.
I love this show….fun show about 3 ladies and their lives as witches. I also liked Pushing Daisies…another show on the edge of reality.
It’s fun escapism TV….so much better than the ‘reality’ tv that is out there.
This blows I would love it if they atleast wrapped it up for the viewers that do watch the show. I love this show I’m so dissapointed that it was cancelled.
I agree – this is the first Tv show in ages that ABC has aired that is actually worth watching. It involves a lot of issues that every day people also battle – friends, family – love – work….and gives us – the audience – an idea of how to over come it without fear. It would be a terrible move for ABC to cancel this great show – it hasn’t even had enough of a chance to really get going!
Shame on you ABC.
I agree with the other intelligent ladies who have commented. Apparently ABC wouldnt know a good show if it bit them in the butt.
I can’t watch anything ABC may run. Eastwick was great, no police, or hospital drama. Or a block of housewifes who can’t hold a job. Good job ABC ! I am glad I have cable and don’t have to watch ABC shows to get hooked then cancelled. Good luck ugly betty you better start looking for a day job. Once they move you around, the next thing is your gone.
I loved this show. I can’t believe it was canceled. Another network should pick it up like the CW. Charmed did so well on the CW that maybe Eastwick can find a home there. Finally there was a show about adult working women with special powers that adult working women could relate to.
I taped all the shows. I just watched them over the holidays. I loved the show. Now I find it’s being cancelled. Please rethink your decision.
This show is amazing and if people care enough to post comments shouldnt that be enough for them to do something!
The show had a slow start due to critic’s reviews at the beginning scaring people off. I ignored the reviews and started watching and love the show, it’s getting so good and just at a time where it could really take off, ABC again shows their short sightedness and pulls the plug. It’s a very busy world right now and most of us rely on TIVO and DVR’s and catch up with our fave shows as we can. 13 shows are barely enough time to find out that a new show is being aired, network programming is going to continue… Read more »
I am so bummed!! I really love this show. I look forward to it every week. I hope ABC reconsiders this decission.
Of course a show about three strong independent women with great dialogue gets canceled. We’re supposed to be watching male-dominated shows with minor female characters. ABC, I’m going back to Cable shows. You’re not getting me hooked into another new hour-long drama just to cancel midstream. Don’t forget — Seinfeld got off to a shaky start too.
I cannot believe you ABC. There are some people who want to watch something other than a doctor, police, adventure or reality tv. I found a show I enjoy watching every week since it came on tv in September. CBS has ghost whisperer and medium. Why can’t we have EASTWICK. IT’S LIGHT AND FUNNY. It’s simple and we need some refreshing entertainment for a change. It doesn’t always have to be drama, like cougars. I bet you wont cancell that show because it is all about sex. We the public deserve better.
I can’t believe they cancelled this series. Yes, it started out slow but then it caught my attention along with many others. It was funny and I looked forward to the next episode. I can believe they have Scrubs still on which is soooooooo stupid! I only pray another network will pick them up. Funny, great acting and the best ABC episode since Greys anatomy.
