It looks like the magic is over for the three ladies of Eastwick. ABC network has decided against ordering any additional episodes of the supernatural series, effectively cancelling it.
Eastwick revolves around three women (Rebecca Romijn, Lindsay Price, and Jaime Ray Newman) who meet at a wishing fountain and become friends. Soonafter, mysterious Darryl Van Horne (Paul Gross) moves to town and unleashes powers within the ladies. The cast also includes Ashley Benson, Johann Urb, Jon Bernthal, Sara Rue, and Veronica Cartwright.
The show got off to a slow start on September 23rd with a 3.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and 8.5 million total viewers. The second installment fell to a 2.3 in the demo and 6.57 million viewers. The third week fell again to a 1.8 and 5.14 million.

In the weeks that followed, the ratings didn’t get any better and more frequently got worse. Last week, Eastwick hit an all-time low of 1.5 in the demo and 4.4 million.
ABC has opted to pull the show from the schedule for two weeks. This Wednesday, it’s replaced by the Country Music Awards. Next week, it’s being bumped for an interview special called In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts: Janet Jackson. Though Eastwick is scheduled to return on Thanksgiving eve with a new episode, the supernatural drama won’t be around for long after that.
ABC has decided not to order any additional episodes of Eastwick, effectively cancelling the series after 13 episodes. It’s unknown if the last episode will wrap up the ongoing storylines. For now, ABC plans to air all six remaining installments but, if the ratings keep declining, the network could easily pull the series before that happens.
What do you think? Why did Eastwick fail? Do you think ABC will really air all of the 13 episodes?

It just really pissed me off that, just like they did with the show “Defying Gravity,” ABC went and pulled the show IMMEDIATELY AFTER A HUGE CLIFF HANGER. I love Modern Family and Cougar Town. I also love Ugly Betty. I love the fact that Ugly Betty has an openly gay character on the show, even though he is a bit of a stereotype. But Eastwick, while not anywhere near the caliber of the motion picture or the book, was indeed a welcome diversion at night. There is no reason why they couldn’t have shown the last couple pf episodes.… Read more »
Somebody finally comes up with a TV show that can hold my attention for a full hour and
what do they do? Of course, they cancel it. Anything that might really entertain the public isn’t worthy of televising, but really stupid shows such as the one giving out the roses stay forever. Eastwyck is more lifelike that this other kind of unrealistic fantasy. And for sure the girls are a whole lot prettier. (Especially Lindsey Price, where in the world has she been?) Fire the idiot who cancelled the show and show some degree of intelligence. Get it back on!
I love the show! Bring it back
Love the show. Hope they will view the last few episodes!
The character of Darryl Van Horne should be played by a really badddd boy (Jack Nicholson played the movie version) not necessarily a really smooth pretty boy! Someone with more charisma and machismo than looks! Otherwise, I liked the show and the other characters were well cast.
That should read 10 PM not AM but there is no way to edit.
NOW THAT JAY LENO is moving back to his original time slot and the 10 a.m is available how about all of you bombarding NBC to bring in EASTWICK!
It won’t do any good to post here but Inundating NBC with gazillions of emails and snail mail will certainly catch their attention.
They need a really good show to show up CBS.
Write to the people that matter….not each other.

Sadly, shows involving the supernatural do not always catch on with viewers. While some of the episodes were more enjoyable than others, overall I personally found EASTWICK entertaining and well-acted. Perhaps, though I cannot say with certainty, part of the problem may have also been that the series was more true to the book that it is based on than similar in tone and/or content to the motion picture starring Cher; and, therefore, was an acquired taste from the perspective of at least some viewers. This Wednesday 10 PM timeslot perhaps is cursed, ironically so at that for this latest… Read more »
Oh I never read the book Keith, call me ignorant I just never knew there was one…oh wait come to think of it I did see a question like that on jeopardy….but I digress, the series somewhat copies the books theme? I should look that book up, thanks

I absolutely love the show!! BRING IT BACK
My daughters and I just loved this show! It was so refreshing, funny, lighthearted. Just plain old different. I’m so very disappointed. I wait every week just to watch this show.
I am so very upset that they pulled this show. A couple of weeks I turned my station to it in anticipation and it wasn’t on. After last night I went searching to find out why and see this. 🙁 I am so very sad, it seems like every time I fall in love with a show, ABC does this. I accidentally saw a commercial for the show before it started and was excited about it, put it in my planner to remind me of when it started, etc. I have since been tuned in and loving it, and they… Read more »
