Edge of Alaska fans need to prepare themselves for the end! The fifth and final season of the series will arrive next month.
Discovery Channel revealed more about the return of the series in a press release. Check that out below.
“Discovery Channel returns to one of America’s last frontier towns for the final time… but the most epic journey is just beginning. Accessible only by dirt road and foot bridge, McCarthy, Alaska, is home to residents who have come – or stayed – for its independence from modern society. But a local businessman has made a decision that will change isolated McCarthy forever: he is selling off the entire town to the highest bidder. Can the mainstays bunker down for good, or will they be forced to flee for solitude elsewhere? The final chapter of Discovery’s EDGE OF ALASKA begins Sunday, October 8 at 10pm ET/PT.
In 1999, Jeremy Keller ventured to McCarthy to escape present society in exchange for beautiful, remote scenery and isolation. Years later, Jeremy is embarking on his most ambitious project yet – establishing a completely self-sufficient homestead to sustain his family legacy for generations. But to achieve his dreams of a fully-functional homestead, he will have to barter hard work and fair exchange with other locals, including longtime rival Neil Darish.
After years of working to transform McCarthy into a tourist attraction, Neil Darish is looking to sell his many McCarthy properties in the hopes of a big payday. The preparation requires months of repair and upgrade, requiring him to barter with farmsteaders like Jeremy Keller. As Neil prepares for a major sale and Jeremy works tirelessly to complete his homestead, tensions rise as the two adversaries travel down an explosive collision course towards the finish line.
The final season of EDGE OF ALASKA experiences journeys more dangerous than ever. The residents of McCarthy must traverse treacherous terrain and rely on instinctive Alaskan bush ingenuity to preserve their life in the frontier town. But as devoted residents prepare for enormous change, their dream of isolation nearly costs them everything – including their lives.
EDGE OF ALASKA is produced by Twofour America, where Bernie Schaeffer, Ken Snow, Melanie Leach, Andrew Mackenzie, and David Eilenberg are executive producers. For Discovery Channel, David Freed is executive producer and Maryna Harrison is coordinating producer.”

Bring “Edge of Alaska” back! My husband and I really enjoyed this show. We want to know more of what happens to these people, even Neil! Will be waiting to see if Discovery tries to keep their fans happy and watching .
We are soo disappointed that Edge of Alaska is cancelled. It was a great show. Bring it back please !
I really enjoyed the show. It’s everyday people trying to make do to live in a beautiful and ruff place. It is the old ways of living. They are happy, funny and honest. Love it!!
I love this show along with the other show on the history channel, it is said that so many are being cancelled because that is all I watch. I don’t enjoy much TV anymore because the shows are all getting to depressing. I which they would bring back living on the frozen lake in Alaska that was a good show
I love Edge of Alaska. I’ve watched it from the beginning and love it. Jenny Rosenbaum is the daughter of my Chiropractor so it has special meaning for me. I hate to see it go but all good things must come to an end.
Is there any possibility of the show not ending? So many of my family enjoy this show.
I really hate to see the end feels like losing good friends
Why do producer’s decide to end a show that people love? I record this show and will watch it over and over.
We love watching Edge Of Alaska. Hate to see it end. Please consider doing follow up shows with updates on how the McCarthy gang is doing. Ya Dahling!!!
My husband and I are so disappointed that this is the final season. He is disabled and we both love this show. It is so much more exciting than Bush People and we love all the residents. I would love to visit there. Please reconsider renewing the series. There isn’t much for senior citizens to watch, that is both a clean and exciting reality show. We love it. I’m so sad.
Why does it have to be the last season? Is it that Dicovery finds it to expensive to produce? I will miss the show. I enjoy it. Those people live a life, I could Not! O will not be watching Finding Bigfoot!
To caveat on what I had just written previously the residents of Mc Carthy on “Edge of Alaska” depicts those who did not inherit the comforts or privileges that were bestowed upon the Kilcher family on “Alaska the Last Frontier.” Jeremy, Jenny and maybe even Neil as well as the others have busted their butts to make their way. The Kilchers work very hard too but they had an edge up whereas the McCarthy residents did not. Just saying….and hope you can appreciate that.
Honestly DSC, you have given us so much insight and pleasure into the lives of the residents of MCarthy and now this is the final season? Of all the shows you air this is truly one of the best. You can’t script what those people actually feel or the hardships they have faced so they can live their lives away from the constraints of society. It is sad that we will no longer be uplifted by Jeremy, Jenny and the rest of the residents. They will keep on caring and it’s unfortunate you won’t. Oh my, bottom line it’s all… Read more »
I love Edge of alaska the show. I don’t see why you must end this amazing show. Come on please keep this killer show going for years to come. Going.to break my heart to see it end…
I really like the show and hate to have it end. It may have lasted longer if the producers would double check scenes for mistakes. I have noticed lots of things where you can tell things have been reenacted .The most recent is when they showed a drone shot of Jeremy driving the dozer through the river and you could see tracks in the snow where they had already did it once. I love reality shows but things like that make me want to not watch them. I used to watch the bush peaple every time it was on but… Read more »
This past week’s show (S04 Ep07) after the log falls off the barn roof, there is a scene where the people are talking about it, and the fiberglass ladder that was suppisedly broken is clearly intact and leaning in its original spot against tbe barn. Worse than bad editing, this is a testimony to the fabrication of events to add unnecessary drama. Just tell their stories without trying to sensationalize things, producers!
