Set your ratings-based deductions aside. The Elementary TV show has been renewed for season six on on CBS. The modern-day Sherlock Holmes TV series adaptation has evaded the Television Vulture, for yet another season.
Set in New York City, Elementary follows detective Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Dr. Joan Watson (Lucy Liu). The CBS cast also includes Aidan Quinn as Captain Thomas Gregson and Jon Michael Hill as Detective Marcus Bell. Together, they investigate the Big Apple’s trickiest cases.
In mid-April, we polled our readers and asked if they would watch a sixth season of Elementary. As of drafting this article, 87% said they would, while 4% voted “no,” and 9% gave it a “maybe.” What do you say? The poll is still open. Vote now.
Elementary: A Look at the Ratings
The fifth and final season of Elementary is averaging a 0.65 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.878 million viewers. Compared to season four, that’s down by 32.15% and 15.01%, respectively. When you compare how the Elementary ratings stack up against those of other CBS TV shows, this renewal means luck is on the side of Elementary viewers.
Deadline confirmed the Elementary season six renewal, tonight.

It’s one of my top 10 shows to watch. Being a fan of Sherlock Holmes I didn’t think I’d like the show and didn’t think it would last for more than a couple of seasons. But they did it right. They recreated Holmes and Watson, placed them into a new environment, but still kept some of the more essential personality traits from the A. C. Doyle stories. When will they realize Sunday is a dead spot because of NFL, Basketball, etc. I have to add an additional 45 minutes to a recording so I hopefully get the end. That must really irritate viewers so that they don’t watch. Elementary is an intelligent program, unlike Hawaii 5-0 or Macgyver.

I am crazy about this show! I watched Sherlock Holmes movies, long ago! The actors in this show are very great! The show should have never been canceled! I been looking every where trying to find elementary! I didn’t know it had been canceled!Lol
Always been a Sherlock fan. Please don’t drop Elementary. Jonny was a great choice to play Sherlock. I was never a fan of Lucy playing Watson and still not although she does have her moments and grows on you Things I don’t like about Elementary: too many scenes at the police station, so not Sherlockian (Aidan and Jon are 2 thumbs up: keep their presence along with the coroner). This was my favorite show on television from the first year it came on, but clearly it has been cancelled. What a shame, as it was so very good. Moving it to Sunday nights so late–starting at 10:30 minimum–probably was what caused its demise. (Now they’ve dumped “Madam Secretary” in that black hole for viewing, which is also too bad.) It was the best show on Thursday night in years.
Please do NOT cancel Elementary. It is one of the best shows on TV today.
It is not fair to the viewers, who appreciate an intelligent well-written show, to keep us in suspense. It is one of my favorite shows and deserves to be continued. Why is it that shows that depict cars flying through the air and gory details seem to survive so long and shows that employ real intelligence get cancelled? Please renew this show as my daughter and I really enjoy it and would like to see it continued for as long as possible.
I want it renewed! It was hard to watch season 5 because of football & 60 minutes running over their times. I record their episodes, but because of starting later my recordings were cut short. Renew please

I LOVE Elementary!! So glad it is returning for a 2017-2018 season! I will DEFINITELY be watching all the episodes. And my DVR is still set from last season to record all new episodes.
I think Elementary is unusual different than any other show on TV. I think the writing could be taken up a notch or two but the ensemble cast has great chemistry and the relationship between Sherlock and Doctor Watson is amazing and effortless. I hope they bring back the character of Sherlock’s father. He is an excellent actor. His character and acting skills bring the show up a little in sophistication. Thank you
