What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the Syfy cable channel, The Expanse takes place centuries into the future. Because Earth’s population has ballooned to over 30 billion, humans have colonized the solar system. Police detective Miller (Thomas Jane) and his crew must unravel a conspiracy that threatens peace and the survival of humanity. Steven Strait, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Dominique Tipper, Cas Anvar, Wes Chatham, Frankie Adams, Florence Faivre, Chad L. Coleman, and Shawn Doyle star.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of The Expanse averaged a 0.18 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 562,000 viewers. Compared to season one, the series is down by 20% in both the demo and total audience size. Find out how The Expanse stacks up against the other Syfy TV shows.

Telly’s Take
Though the ratings for season two of The Expanse dropped off some compared to season one, it is still one of Syfy’s top performers. I suspect that the mystery space opera will be renewed for a third season, but I will keep an eye on this series. 3/16 update: Syfy renewed the series for a third season. No dining for me here.

I come here…tears in my eyes…after seeing Dark Matter was cancelled. At least The Expanse was spared. *sniff*
This is why NetFlix has such an advantage for series shows. They would have taken this show and done it right knowing people will watch it when it’s convenient. The TV ratings system is broken.
SiFi has a serious problem. They will cancel a great series like The Expanse but they will keep putting out crap like Dinocroc vs. Sharkpussy. You don’t sacrifice great classic shows like The Expance just to produce another cheap “B” movie. Imagine cancelling the last season of Game of Thrones just to pay for a dozen crap movies like Dudes and Dragons. How many damn Sharknados does the world need? I guess as many as the Knuckle Draggers are willing to watch but seriously good science fiction like The Expance might be above the intellect of the masses but that… Read more »
So the ratings are down. Is anyone keeping track of the number of people who binge watch on demand or are ordering DVD’s of great series like The Expanse. I for one would like to see a thrid season but it seems like fans like me don’t count. A lot of us are tired of great shows being cancelled mid story. When shows like Defying Gravity and Deadwood are cancelled without a proper ending it does not sour us against the show. It makes us mad at the network. This is the best sci-fi show on TV along with Westworld. I don’t know anyone who has watched it and not loved it! This should really be SyFy’s flagship series because it is incredible. This show is also scientifically accurate and it’s refreshing to see a future depicted where space travel is limited to sub-light speeds. It really is the “Game of Thrones” of the sci-fi genre!

I think The Expanse is the best sci-fi show that includes a space faring human race on the air. The effects are at e very high level and are as close to reality as it gets. Combined with a compelling story it’s a great show and not to see the story to its end will disappoint the fans by killing yet another great show which is getting very tiresome.
