At the TCA winter press tour, John Landgraf, FX‘s President and General Manager, confirmed that Fargo is planned to be a 10 episode limited series. The show starts airing on Tuesday, April 15th, at 10pm.
Landgraf said, “Fargo is a closed ended story with a beginning, middle, and an end. If there were subsequent seasons, they would be sort of like American Horror Story or perhaps True Detective (on HBO) in that they would be entirely different self-contained stories with different casts and different characters. I haven’t even heard a prospective story for a second season of Fargo.”
Fargo stars Billy Bob Thornton and is an adaptation of the Academy Award winning feature film of the same title by Joel and Ethan Coen. Thornton plays “Lorne Malvo,” a rootless, manipulative man who meets a small town insurance salesman and sets him on a path of destruction.
What do you think? Do you plan on watching? Do you like knowing that the season will be a self-contained story?
Renew with a different plot but keep some of the main characters, especially “Malvo”. Have friends hoping for reruns soon. Fun show with great writing. Look forward to more. Rank this with “House of Cards” which was only supposed to be a one year run, which now is in its third year. Just ordered the second year today on Netflix.
terrific entertainment. totally engaging characters and plot. well done.
Very interesting and will watch till the end.
When I learned that we were not going to be shown the rest of the FARGO series in Canada, I was really upset. And we do not get FXX here. We have to get after Shaw to pick it up.
After watching the first episode of Fargo on April 15, my husband and I are hooked.
Yes, I DO plan to watch Fargo… if it’s a good as the movie it’ll be a winner!
