A few years ago, FOX had some of the top-rated TV shows on the air. Now, the network is struggling. Which series will be cancelled and which will be renewed? Stay tuned.
How do the execs decide what to cancel or keep? They look at a lot of different factors but the ratings play a very large role. The higher the ratings, the better chances a show has of surviving.
FOX shows this season (so far): American Idol, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, Backstrom, Bob’s Burgers, Bones, Boom!, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Bullseye, Empire, Family Guy, The Following, Glee, Golan the Insatiable, Gotham, Gracepoint, Hell’s Kitchen, Home Free, Knock Knock Live, The Last Man on Earth, MasterChef, MasterChef Junior, The Mindy Project, Mulaney, New Girl, Red Band Society, The Simpsons, Sleepy Hollow, So You Think You Can Dance, Utopia, Wayward Pines, and Weird Loners.

A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are therefore supposedly harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking. The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Which shows are you rooting for? Which one isn’t as big a hit as you thought? Are you hoping any series will get cancelled to make room for something else?
Our family watches Sleepy Hollow almost every week. It is a good departure from all the shooting and such. It is like another world, good entertainment!
Bones has been a great show for three generations of my family sharing for the last several seasons.
When you went wacky with the last episode, you really did a poor choice for your audience.
We of the generation 45-60 still have more buying power than we are given credit for. We enjoy these. Bring bones back keep the descent values we can share with our grandkids and still laugh.

I don’t care for Empire but 12 million viewers do, so God Bless! I hope Sleepy Hollow comes back; just a different kind of show on tv that tells great stories with an engaging cast! Gotham? Happy to see Fish Mooney’s contract not renewed. Love Brooklyn 99; wasn’t going to watch it but my brother put me on to it; what a funny show!
I have been & continue to be a loyal fan of the show “BONES” for years. I think it would get better ratings if you would stop moving the shows’ night (M-F) around & if you would Stop having such long gaps in between shows. I am no longer between the ages of 18-44 & yet I still think I should matter. I really enjoy “BONES” and hope you renew if for another season. I think their fan base is still quite strong.
Monday nights are reserved for Gotham and Sleepy Hollow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both shows are the best on TV……………please renew BOTH!!!!!!
Has anyone heard anything about the game show BOOM! That is supposed to be coming out on FOX? It used to be up on their website, but now it is gone. I am sure if they air this game show the ratings will go through the roof! It looks so good.
i think last man and gotham need to swap places on the first table
Broadening any important focus has to be in correct speed on all fox comedies.
Gotham & Sleepy Hollow are what look forward to on Monday nights. My family &I never miss it,nor do our extended families. The only other time I have seen Fox have a lineup like this was X-Files & Millennium. Please don’t make the mistake of getting rid of this high quality show. It’s the ONLY time we watch Fox all week. Please.
wasn’t mulaney cancelled?. the episode order was cut down from 16 to 13 and with those terrible ratings the network isn’t even gonna announce an official cancellation.
I didn’t realize they’d cut the order even further. After doing some research I see that FOX chairman Dana Walden actually declared it dead. A rarity.
Hello Sleepy Hollow,
Please get your ratings up.I am 59 years old.I love Sleepy Hollow. It is great show.I watch it every week.I do not miss a week.It is the greatest show i have ever seen. The person needs to get more great writing in there.I like how the two actors have went into the past.I still like it.Good Luck on the show.
I love the show. I set my arlam for every tues night on CBS. & also i watch it every wed on USA.
Master chef is so scripted…… no one gives a crap about kids cooking made up junk
It’s unfortunate that whatever version of “24” comes back may only “work around” Jack, which casts doubts on its success. They would at least have to bring back Chloe and Morgan, otherwise their efforts will be completely unrewarded.
What happened to the original MasterChef? Would rather see that renewed and Hell’s Kitchen dropped. MasterChef Junior is amazing; kids cooking things I’ve never heard of!!
