AMC is getting out of the reality show business and is cancelling several shows. Other than The Walking Dead aftershow Talking Dead and Kevin Smith’s Comic Book Men, the cable channel has decided to focus solely on scripted series.
Production on Game of Arms, which was recently renewed for a second season, will shut down immediately. Small Town Security and Freakshow have also been cancelled.
Producers on the dropped shows will have the option of finding another home for their series, with AMC’s full cooperation. This includes two other projects with Smith and Chris Hardwick’s All-Star Celebrity Bowling.
“Scripted originals are at the core of the AMC brand. Iconic shows like Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead have driven AMC’s evolution into a must-have television network,” an AMC spokesman said in a statement. “We are proud of our efforts in unscripted programming and the unique worlds we have been able to introduce, but in an environment of exploding content options for viewers, we have decided to make scripted programming our priority.”

AMC should go back to showing movies. It IS after all American movie classics, and you dont have that with tv shows filling most of the time. SHOW Movies damn it!

amc should really bring back freak show or put it on another channel. There are so many comments on how it should be brought back. It was a great show and I hope that amc reads this and consider bringing it back.

I feel that freak show was not given a fair chance! I think the show spreads a beautiful message to people every time they are on. we just started to really get to know the cast and I think the show has excellent potential. you get a little bit of everything on the show, some comedy, drama, thrill and excitement. I will definitely not be watching AMC after the cancellation of freak show yeah they have some ok shows on that channel but freakshow is one of the favorites because it’s real and the stuff they do on that show is amazing and since its been cancelled I’m sure they will be losing a lot of viewers I know they’ve lost at least five and I’m sure they will be losing countless more everybody in my household watched it every week and loved it and now that is gone we don’t even look to see what’s playing on AMC and… Read more »
thank god for netflix, freakshow is on there for now, (december 2014) — I hate that amc cancelled it. You gave honeyboo boo like three years. Give freakshow another chance! It was great! The relationships were outstanding and the amazing works were the best! You cant see that every day! I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO THEIR LIVES!

I love freak show,was just getting to really know the cast.it was just taking off ,I was really looking forward to the next season.I watch American horror story: freak show this freak show is nothing like that.theses are real people and you really get to like know them American horror story I love too but this was way better.amc should bring it back.I’m a very big fan of the walking dead it’s my favorite show but you can’t put everything into it.freak show isn’t about zombies.
