Tonight marks the season finale of Gang Related on FOX. It’s been a season of twists and turns but have the ratings been strong enough for the show to be renewed for a second season — or will it be cancelled instead?
On Gang Related, a police detective (Ramon Rodriguez) is torn between his allegiance to his job and co-workers and the gang and crime family that raised him. The cast also includes Terry O’Quinn, RZA, Jay Hernandez, Sung Kang, Inbar Lavi, Cliff Curtis, and Shantel VanSanten.
The series debuted at the end of May to a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.94 million viewers. That was a poor showing right out of the gate and, over the course of the season, the ratings have gotten even worse. Last week’s episode installment hit a new low with a 0.6 demo rating and just 2.01 million viewers.
The season’s averaged a 0.8 rating with 2.56 million. Compared to the network’s other summer shows, Gang Related is performing well behind MasterChef, 24, Hotel Hell, and So You Think You Can Dance.
Though expectations are lower for summer series, it’s highly unlikely that FOX will want to renew Gang Related for a second season. The ratings are just too low — and they’ve essentially been getting worse week after week. More than likely, the execs will roll the dice and try a new program next year.

I think Gang Related was an awesome show and should absolutely be renewed for Season 2. Each episode ended with suspense, so you had to watch next week to see what happened. I watched it faithfully every week and even I got my friends hooked on to it. If it is not renewed, I will be very upset.

I hope they do not cancel the show. I hardly watch TV, but this is the only show I’m into at the moment. The suspense keeps me on my toes! The cast is amazing! DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW!
I would definitely renew for a second season. It’s a great show. I think that the network should give it another try, it is after all a summer show. I think once people start to hear the buzz about it it will become very popular. More advertising would be good to.

It’s the best shows on Fox. Tried of those dumb reality shows. Gang related can be as big as sopranos. Give it a chance.

Well maybe if Fox doesn’t pick it back up Netflix will and make it a huge hit like The Killing. This show was really good in my opinion but it had a bad time slot and was plagued with being put in around a bunch of reality shows. Most people that watch “reality” shows don’t care for real acting and shows with a story line. If networks like Fox would get rid of all these horrible “reality” shows and keep these good dramas and comedies maybe people would start watching again. Gang related is a good show. They need to renew it for season 2. I don’t want to see the show canceled..
I haven’t enjoyed a show this much that wasn’t on cable for a long time. I certainly hope it is renewed for a second season. I have told many friends about it who are considering downloading the first season if it is renewed.

Give this show a second season by writing better scripts. The cast is good but the storylines need to be more diversified. Explore more backgrounds of cast members. It will be worth the effort. Brian Grazer has so many connections with writers to draw from and he should be willing to develop characters and storylines to keep this show going for a second season.

Please don’t cancelled. I look forward to more seasons. Alot of my family and friends have followed this show. We all look forward to it each week. Give it time to catch on and I know more people will watch. At first I didn’t think I would like it but as I watched each week I really got into it.

I can honestly say that this show has the perfect blend of different cultures. I would love to see a season 2.
