A staple of CBS’ Friday night schedule, ratings for Ghost Whisperer have dropped quite a bit over the season. Last week, the network surprised many viewers by cancelling the TV show after five seasons. The blow was softened when it was learned that the series might get a second chance on ABC. The alphabet network has now apparently passed.
Starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ghost Whisperer began in September 2005 and ran for 107 episodes. The series’ regular cast has also included David Conrad, Christoph Sanders, Jamie Kennedy, Camryn Manheim, Aisha Tyler, and Jay Mohr.
Things had been looking positive for the series to continue and some outlets actually had even reported that the show had been picked up. Unfortunately, the deal didn’t work out.
We may never know the details but Ghost Whisperer executive producers Kim Moses and Ian Sander issued a statement that said, “After five wonderful seasons and over 100 episodes, we are disappointed to announce Ghost Whisperer will not be returning for a sixth season. We’ve had an incredible experience and owe a debt of gratitude to everyone involved. We continue our relationship with ABC Studios and look forward to developing many more successful projects together in the future.”
While it looks like Heroes and Law & Order will get some closure, there’s been no word on any plans to go back into production and wrap up Ghost Whisperer.

I am devastated. I watched all the reruns at 4:00pm so I could catch up to watch season 6. This was my favorite show. We didn’t even get an ending. I felt better when I thought ABC was picking it up. Now what am I supposed to watch.
I have always looked forward to watching this show on Friday nights along with one of my granddaughters and her friends. The show has been changing and for the better. I will truly miss this show. It was one of my do-not-miss shows as I don’t watch very much TV, not being into reality TV.

I think they shound have atleast an ending episode that let the show go out with a Bang!!!
I think it stupid they cancelled the show. I also think they should drop it before having a great ending episode. Im sick of them droping show with out leting the show go out with a bang. why should we watch there shows if they wont finish them when we do????
I am so deeply saddened that the Ghost Whisperer people have been dealt such a disrespectful card by CBS, if season five is abruptly ended with no closure then I don’t think that us fans will be very impressed with the CBS team. After five seasons, there were still so many story lines to follow 🙁 Aiden growing more powerful, Melinda having another baby, the return of Professor Payne? huh… such a shame what the hell will I watch now?

I Watched Ghost Whisperer every time it was on. I want them to do a sixth season. I also got all the seasons on dvd. This is VERY DISAPPOINTING!! I loved the show. I want them to bring back the show. One of the stations should.
I LOVE Ghost Whisperer!!! I’ve seen EVERY episode at least 3 times each. This past season was kinda dumb tho n I blame the writers! The story line was just dumb…I mean come on “shadows” and “shinies” Likw wtf yo who’s gonna take that seriously!? Ratings would have continued to b successful without the corny terrible writing change.

its a great show and i bet if given another chance the rating would go way over the charts, because people would be so excited that it came back on air.

Really get tired of seeing shows just ‘end’… any show on more than four years should have a series finale… even if it means paying for one more episode… or 1/2 dozen more episodes that go on a ‘final season’ box set. it’s a shame to lose a show this good, but killing off Jim really screwed with the formula, even though they brought him back… I think once that happened, they hurt the show permanently.
I am so disappointed in CBS’ choice to cancel Ghost Whisperer, especially since we got no real closure, it just went away.
I really wish ABC would have picked it up. I have watched this show every week since it first began in 2005, religiously and now it is gone. I am so dissappointed.

I wish they did not cancel Ghost Whisperer I am a really big fan. They need to cancel the reality shows that CBS and everyone else has and bring back wholesome television shows. They also need to bring back Ghost Whisperer for alot more seasons… With all of the same characters and bring back Professor Payne as well. Along with the other characters that are regular. PLEASE BRING BACK THE GHOSTWHISPER SHOW WITH TONS OF CHERRIES.
