A staple of CBS’ Friday night schedule, ratings for Ghost Whisperer have dropped quite a bit over the season. Last week, the network surprised many viewers by cancelling the TV show after five seasons. The blow was softened when it was learned that the series might get a second chance on ABC. The alphabet network has now apparently passed.
Starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ghost Whisperer began in September 2005 and ran for 107 episodes. The series’ regular cast has also included David Conrad, Christoph Sanders, Jamie Kennedy, Camryn Manheim, Aisha Tyler, and Jay Mohr.
Things had been looking positive for the series to continue and some outlets actually had even reported that the show had been picked up. Unfortunately, the deal didn’t work out.
We may never know the details but Ghost Whisperer executive producers Kim Moses and Ian Sander issued a statement that said, “After five wonderful seasons and over 100 episodes, we are disappointed to announce Ghost Whisperer will not be returning for a sixth season. We’ve had an incredible experience and owe a debt of gratitude to everyone involved. We continue our relationship with ABC Studios and look forward to developing many more successful projects together in the future.”
While it looks like Heroes and Law & Order will get some closure, there’s been no word on any plans to go back into production and wrap up Ghost Whisperer.

I really don’t get it!! I loved this show and was desperately looking forward to the next season since it left us hanging on! How can they end a show without at least a “closer”? There’s enough of these other shows that really don’t make any sense, but yet a show that knows how to intrigue an audience with a concept that most find fascinating, gets pulled from the lineup!!!It’s not right and the show should still go on!! I was looking for the new season!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m really upset to see it go. ABC should pick it up and see how it goes. It just can’t end it like this, we don’t no what happens to everyone. It’s just not fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is very disappointing! Ghost Whisperer should have at least up to 15 seasons or so! I love this show and have been an avid fan of Melinda & Jim! I think they should keep this show running! Who says people got tired of watching it?! You people should bring Ghost Whisperer back and should get rid of stupid reality shows instead like Ileana said! I am very sad right now…and ANGRY!!! =(
This is ridiculous?!!!!!! You know they should at least film and ending to the series and not leave us wondering how Melinda’s life went on!!! I mean seriously atleast make an effort to make a one last episode to tell us how it ENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so freaking mad right now!! I was so looking forward to the new season!!!!

ever since they cancelled my show i only watch movies screw all the shows they cancel em as soon as they drag you in i refuse to watch cbs abc cw fox every one of those channels unlessyou bring back my show i say we all go on a boy cot until they bring ghost whisperer back with the same people that were on it i am no longer watching those channels again
I can not believe they cancelled “Ghost Whisper”. I am in college and all my friends love the show. We were all excitied for the next season. OMG! I am the first to learn of this news. Now I have to tell all my friends, they are going to be disapointed. The one good thing we can enjoy inbetween homework and test. This really sucks!
this so so stupid!!! i was looking forward to ABC or some other network to do it, but apparently they care more about their money than what the public thinks. >.< why can't they get rid of some of their reality shows? I mean, it's not like anyone I know watches them! grrrrr!
I’m just so disappointed Ghost Whisperer has been canceled and no other network has picked it up. It is a GREAT, unusual show and there are so many story lines left undone. I was excited the SciFi channel was showing re-runs, I thought perhaps they may pick it up. Perhaps Jennifer Love Hewitt just doesn’t want to do it anymore?
I can’t believe Ghost Whisperer is being cancelled!!! It is one of my favorite shows. Believe it or not there are a lot of people out there that connect with the other side on some level. This show has made me feel less of a freak and more of a normal person. Please bring this show back.
Seriously? My whole family loved Ghost Whisperer. What will it be replaced with? Drying Paint…a reality show? This is ridiculous. Heaven forbid there would be good television broadcast in the U.S. BBC here I come.
I can’t believe that is wasn’t picked up. Network execs are really lowering their standards for television. Ghost Whisperer was and is great entertainment. Stinks to see it go this way.

I dont know why I even bother watching tv anymore since every show that grabs my attention is cancelled. I dont understand how all these reality shows, stupid remakes, 90210/Hawaii 5-0 and teenage garbage shows are still on the air. How many CSI/Law & Order do we need? Grey Anatomy is becoming a drag and Private Practice is running out of lovers to swap.
This was a great family show. I guess people would rather watch garbage then something with substance.
