Batman has been an incredibly popular character for 75 years so it seems like the Gotham TV show should be a slam dunk success in the ratings. Will it actually succeed and be renewed for a second season — or will it bomb? Could it be cancelled quickly? Stay tuned.
Gotham is a dark crime drama that tells the early stories of police detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and iconic Gotham City characters — before they became legendary crimefighters, villains. and vigilantes. The rest of the cast includes Erin Richards, Donal Logue, David Mazouz, Jada Pinkett Smith, John Doman, Camren Bicondova, Robin Lord Taylor, Cory Michael Smith, Zabryna Guevara, Victoria Cartagena, Andrew Stewart Jones, and Sean Pertwee.
The higher a show’s ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better its chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically the following morning, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
1/17 update: Gotham has been renewed for a second season.
Final season averages: 2.19 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.10 million total viewers.
Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.

What do you think? Do you like the Gotham TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Love the show. We will probably never see Batman in this because it pre-dates it but hopefully we’ll get to see some of the neat trinkets that are created in the bat cave soon. Please don’t cancel.
Love it. Love it. Love it. Best show on tv.
Gotham awesome show, Bruce learn badass that great
Unlike one of the people who said no one gives a crap about who Jim Gordon is, etc., I totally disagree!! Normally I don’t go for this type of show, but decided to record the pilot just to see what it was all about. I’m so glad I did!!!!!!! I love seeing how Bruce Wayne develops into Batman, and that young actor is superb!! In fact, all the actors are doing an awesome job. Also, I am NOT a Jada-Pinkett fan at all, but I’ll give her this one. She is doing a terrific job, I love the way they… Read more »
Penguin and Harvey Bullock are the most out standing characters in Gotham so far. Not to offend anyone but I think the reason that Jada-Pinkett in this show because they need more black actors in the show. Her character is too far-fetch to exit the criminal world. So happy that Fox ordered extra 6 episodes over the original of 16 episodes. It’ll a full season with 22 eps 😉
Abs can’t beat this show, amazingly orginal and cant miss a single episode…..praying they renew fpr another season.
Can’t get enough Gotham! The ppl moaning and winging here need their heads checked or go away and watch their boxsets of Smallville again. I loved The Dark Knight Rises, loved the Burton movies, the 66′ tv series, the animated series and now finally something new that expands the Batman mythos. Refreshingly original television that had me completely hooked from the promo stage. For me the only 3 shows worth even mentioning since 2000 have been The Walking Dead, Bates Motel and now Gotham. More tv like this please!
Gotham is awesome! Finally, a great show that develops the Batman characters. The acting is great and the directing is great but best of all is a thrilling plot that pulls the audience into the next episode and the next season. Having a relationship with the characters is far more important than computer generated action – action – action. I’m getting bored with all the fast paced, modern action movies where some movie star survives a fall from a 50 story skyscraper while dodging a barrage of thousands of bullets from fully automatic weapons. Unrealistic! Does Hollywood think we’re that… Read more »
Overall I guess it would be a good show….however it will fail because nobody gives a crap about what happened before batman…and damn sure don’t care about Det. Gordon …..screw the backstory. I could just watch Law and Order , it’s basically the same thing
2 thumbs up!
I dont kno what you guys are talkin about GOTHAM is the best show in the world . I wait for mondays to watch it its a awesome show . Cant wait to see The JOKER .The producers are doing a great job. very intersting keep up the great work guys….
Uhh, it would be impossible for the Joker to be in Gotham. He is a villain that was around only when Batman was around, we don’t know anything about him or his name before he became the Joker. So, anyone could be the Joker. Besides, he wasn’t insane for all of his life.
I agree though, Gotham is great. I don’t what show the other people are watching.
This show is terrible, after all the work Nolan did to make Batman look cool again…this garbage television comes along.
I don’t know what show you’re watching, but Gotham is great.
I second that !!! It’s like watching Smallville where Ma and Pa Kent are the lead story lines…Nolan nailed it 100% and that’s the problem…you can’t make the best, better. Seems like Hollywood today is either about rebooting the reboots or storylines that go absolutely nowhere. What’s next…? Oh, I know…lets do a TV series called, “Funhouse” and we’ll watch the Joker grow up…Effin – Lame as well as epic fail. Lights out Gotham cuz even the Bat Signal wouldn’t draw in attention to this show!
Chris, it’s not really the complete back story because one of the characters, played by jade pinkett smith is not a real original character and was completely made up for this joke of a prequel. They should have never introduced this character in the first place, and if they did, they should have someone much better playing the part. She’s not a good actor and for my friends and I, she’s the whole reason why we don’t be supporting Gotham or watching it. Too bad if it gets cancelled.
James, I think you miss the point of the program completely………. First, I think Jada’s slow almost angry style adds incredibly to the Dark Knight storyline. Plus, Ben McKenzie as a young Jim Gordon is totally believable, fighting to remain uncorrupted and a champion for right and good citizens. Another good example of this is Carol Kane’s awesomely creepy characterization of Penguin’s mother, “I love it”! Second, It’s just like a comic book storyline where one series overlaps or even contradicts another (The Walking Dead is a huge success with both comics and TV and those storylines often contradict each… Read more »
I am really enjoying the story so far, and I think it´s very well made! Of course for die-hard batman fans it will always have flaws, but remember that those fans also complained about Nolan’s trilogy! So we shouldn’t be worrying about what they think. It´s a great show, great cast and great story, can’t wait to see how it will develops with time!
I dnt understand y ppl need something always to pop, jump out at them. Small minded ppl cnt think five minutes past their face, IT’S A BACK STORY leading up to batman, it’s interesting cause its not something that everyone else is doing. It’s the full story that has never been told, bfore batman came about.. I guess it’s not interesting to ppl with A.D.D!!
I dnt understand y ppl are so small minded always needing something to pop off all the time, can never use their brain to think five minutes past their face.. IT’S A BACK STORY.. Leading up to batman. It’s interesting, VERY GOOD SHOW!! I guess not for ppl with A.D.D!!
