If you were waiting anxiously to find out the identity of the mysterious Magic Man on ABC’s Happy Town, you’ll have to wait a bit longer.
Happy Town revolves around a bunch of strange disappearances and murders in a small town. The large cast includes Sam Neill, M.C. Gainey, Geoff Stults, Lauren German, Amy Acker, Steven Weber, Ben Schnetzer, Sarah Gadon, Jay Paulson, and Robert Wisdom.
After a disappointing start in the ratings, Happy Town was pulled off the airwaves for much of May. Before the show could return on June 2nd, ABC officially cancelled the series. Only eight episodes have been filmed but at least answers to some of the TV show’s mysteries will be revealed by the end.
Unfortunately, ABC has pulled the show off the air once again. Happy Town was scheduled to take next Wednesday off but return for June 30th and July 7th with the last installments. The network has decided, likely because Happy Town’s ratings have gotten really bad, to replace them with repeats of Castle.
It’s likely that ABC will get around to airing the last two episodes of Happy Town on a Saturday night sometime this summer. It won’t be soon though. On July 3rd, they’ll burn off the last episodes of the forgotten. On July 10th, the network’s airing the extra two episodes of Eastwick. Could Happy Town return on July 17th? Another mystery that we’ll have to wait to have solved.
What do you think? Are you upset that ABC has pulled the last two episodes of Happy Town? Do you think they’ll ever air?

I TOTALLY AGREE with elinor edwards from june 24th!!! this show absolutely reminded me of twin peaks and i barely even got to watch THAT series. i can’t remember what network it was on but at least they gave that show a shot. abc is taking a dive, reminding me of how stupid nbc is. their latest moronic move being messing up their WHOLE SCHEDULE AND GIVING AWAY AMAZING SHOWS and CUTTING CONAN O’BRIEN for stupid-ass Jay Leno!!!???? abc should know better than this. now abc is stupid and moronic. sad… very sad. i guess fox is the station for… Read more »
I am so tired of abc starting a series. then when it gets interesting they cancel the show. its no wonder they are the bottom rated network.
I really enjoy shows that build off previous episodes. This makes the characters much more rich and enjoyable to watch. Crime dramas are okay at times, but they get old. Reality tv isn’t even reality at all; it’s just a bunch of washed up actors and people who need to be the center of attention doing ridiculous things so people who lead boring lives can feel better about themselves. This is why shows like Happy Town need to be given a chance. I realize it is probably hard to build a base of viewers that watch every week, but it… Read more »
The magic man is the root beer character. You can tell this because in the second or third episode the father of the girl who got drugged in the hospital mentioned that he saw the magic man and that he was “skinny”. The only character in the show who would reasonably fit this description is the root beer character. If this show ever airs its final episodes I would guarantee that root beer is the chosen to be the magic man.
Congrats ABC you have done it again, you canceled a show that requires a litle thought, had some intrigue and mystery and decent acting. you replaced it with a mediocre series that should have been cancelled. I agree with Andrew, ABC should be cancelled.
I rarely watch ABC but I faithfully tuned in to Happy Town. I caught the pilot episode by chance as I was ill & flipping thru channels. Each episode I was on the edge of my seat with my mind searching all the different directions trying to solve the mystery. I know ABC couldn’t care less whether I watched their network or not but if Happy Town doesn’t finish airing it will disappoint me greatly & won’t be tuning into to another of their experimental miniseries for fear of not being able to know the “The End”! The Harper’s Island… Read more »
regardeless of all opinions about Happy Town(pos or neg)… it is highly unlikely that airing repeats of Castle will have any worthy impact for ABC. Sad that ABC is so desperate for ratings that they can’t give the people who did like this show the courtesy of the last 2 installments! LAME ABC! ReallyLAME! Clearly Money IS the root of ABC’s evils…
I just discovered this show on Hulu and now I can’t even watch the last 2 episodes! I’m so upset! This is the best show I’ve seen in years. ABC get it together!!! Castle is okay but Happy Town is actually intriguing and keeps the viewer thinking about the plot after the show is long over. Bring back Happy Town and Pushing Daisies!!! Enough with these brainless shows, like Eastwick.
you dont want to know-i really like this show-what is wrong with abc-castle is ok but happy town is so much better-reminds me of twin peaks-i like this show i wish they wouldnt cancel it
I think it is sad that u cancel shows that have some mystery to it. If it involves trfying to figure out who did it people dont like it should of made the first episode maybe a 2 hour premeire sad to see it go my kids even enoyed it
I wish I knew who the idiots were who was running things I would like to kick some booty. Seems like every time a good show comes along they cancel it. Happy Town, Firefly, are just two of a long list of good shows that never made it. Personally I think Happy Town got better in the 3 – 6 shows which I have seen so far. It is sad that we get stuck with stupid unreal reality shows that are total crap (AND YES EVERY FREAKIN REALITY SHOW IS A BUNCH OF CRAPPY PABLUM FOR BRAIN DEAD TWITS)!!!!
Happy Town was truly terrible. The dialogue was hackneyed and cliched… the characters were not remotely believable. The acting wasn’t as bad as it could have been under the circumstances. I’m a big fan of Sam Neill. But as bad as I wanted each episode to be over while I was watching it, I wanted to see the next one to find out where the story was going. So, I’m bummed to hear that ABC is going to leave this hanging. Even if no one is watching, they should have the werewithal to see it through and air the last… Read more »
NBC executives scewed up the show by intterupting it so many times. I was enjoying the show, but whats the point in trying to watch … here, gone, here, gone, maybe. It has become so apparent that (as in government) given the power, someone just likes making the changes because they can. I will now stay away from any series (mini or otherwise) that NBC airs. Why start something you can’t finish? The promo for “The Event” looks really good, but I wouldn’t even dare to watch. What’s the point? It will be another here, gone, maybe.
seems to me that whenever a interesting show comes on that provokes wonder and thought it gets cancelled. shows like jericho or firefly that show some sort of controversial subject matter or conspiracy thats original gets slammed down. hell all there is to watch are these pathetic reality shows now days or 10 seasons of lost come on. shame on abc, they should be cancelled.
With such a complex script (# of threads), this show got off to a slow start; the pilot, at one hour length, didn’t allow for the sufficient development of any of the characters to really grab your interest; or develop a story line; should have been 2 hrs. While the developing story is becoming intriguing it is hard to watch a program (and maintain a following) when you never know when/if it will ever finish even one of the story lines. Intermittent scheduling of a developing complex story line is hardly the way to get good ratings!
