Last week, NBC unveiled their newest legal drama series, Harry’s Law. Interestingly, this isn’t a new Law & Order spin-off but rather the brainchild of David E. Kelley who created shows like ABC’s Boston Legal. He also worked on NBC’s popular LA Law many years ago. Will this legal series last as long as those or be quickly cancelled instead?
Harry’s Law revolves around Harriet “Harry” Korn (Kathy Bates), a curmudgeonly ex-patent lawyer. She’s abruptly fired from her blue chip law firm, forcing her to search for a fresh start. Harry finds it when she meets Malcolm Davies (Aml Ameen), a college student who desperately needs her help and ends up working for her. A young legal hotshot named Adam Branch (Nate Corddry) accidentally hits her and gives up his corporate job to join the team. With the help of Harry’s shoe-obsessed assistant, Jenna (Brittany Snow), they open for business as Harriet’s Law and Fine Shoes.
The TV series debuted last Monday and it attracted an okay 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.07 million viewers. It ranked in second place for the timeslot though probably would have been third if Castle had not been a repeat. Though that’s not a great debut, it’s a 47% improvement over Chase’s last original episode in the same timeslot. That’s very positive for NBC.

Last night’s episode of Harry’s Law drew a 2.1 in the demo and 10.43 million viewers. That’s a loss of about 5% in the demo from the premiere but still positive since most shows lose between 10 and 15% of their viewership in week two. Most people who watched last week obviously liked it and returned and perhaps even told a friend or two.
After just two airings, Harry’s Law ranks in sixth place on the list of NBC’s most-watched scripted programs, just below 30 Rock. That’s very positive, especially considering NBC’s string of bad luck in the Mondays at 10pm timeslot. If the series can sustain or even build on these early numbers, it looks certain that NBC will renew it for season two.
But, what do you think? Do you like Harry’s Law? Do you think NBC should keep it going or just cancel it? What do you like or dislike about the new series?

Keep Harry. Junk the “days of our lives” stuff.
I love Harry’s Law because I love Kathy Bates. Please keep this show on the air. If you take it off I’ll have to go back to Castle and that would be a sad day.
I love the story and the people. One of my favorites. Always has a great story. Kathy Bates is great!!!!
Harrys law is the best!!!!!!!!!!show on the air in a very long time, Kathey Bates is wonderful in her role. The whole cast is great. would be a shame not to bring this show back. I look foward to mondays now
We both enjoyed “Harry” VERY much. Please keep it going!
plese keep harry’s law. this has been the best law series i have watched in some time.we need a light-hearted side to some of the shows.kathy bates is just what we need.
Please keep the show on, Katie Bates has a way of making important points regarding humanity and the Justice system. We need more programs that address the truth and our reality in a humorous and positive way. I find the show refreshing and thought provocating and look forward to each new episode.
Someone please cancel this crap!! On a scale of 1-10 I give it a generous 3. The cast is mediocre at best and Kathy Bates, who normally provides a scintillating performance, brings almost nothing to the show. The final straw is when the young blonde nothing says that she has to “train” her boyfriend! Who writes this junk, much less thinks it up?! Thank you for moving male -female relations back 50 years and relations between the races back 150. I’m done with this.
A great series, please do a season 2
WHY is Harry’s Law filmed so dark. I love the story and Harry, but I find it to be filmed in very poor lighting! Lighten this show up so we can actually SEE it. Thanks
Quirky and at times a little unbelieveable…for example, the storefront and sidewalk area outside Harry’s practice looks too clean and upscale… and it’s supposed to be in a semi-ghetto? What’s wrong with showing some busted-out windows? Anyway, Bates rocks. I couldn’t at first place “Tommy Jefferson” but then I remembered he played Louise’s husband (as in Thelma and) and he is great as a sleazeball.
Please keep “Harry’s Law” and “The Cape” both shows are very good and entertaining!
Thank you.
Please do not cancel Harry’s Law. It is a show that we both enjoy and can watch together. This show is really enjoyed by many of us who live in a large above average socio-economic retirement community in central Florida. (Read baby boomers with solid retirement). We have all moved here from all over the U.S. and hear from friends who live back “home” that they also enjoy Harry’s Law. Kathy Bates is terrific as is her supporting cast. The writers are very good and include issues that are not commonly known in the mainstream. This is one of the… Read more »
