Heartbeat has officially flat-lined. Variety reports NBC has cancelled the medical drama after one season.
The series centers on Dr. Alex Panttiere (Melissa George), a cardio-thoracic surgeon trying to juggle her personal and professional life. Dave Annable, Don Hany, Joshua Leonard, Jamie Kennedy, D.L. Hughley, Shelley Conn, Maya Erskine, and J. Louis Mills also star.
Nearing the end of its first season, Heartbeat has continued to fall in the ratings. The series began strong, receiving a 1.39 in the 18-49 demo and 6.304 million viewers for its March premiere. However, the show is currently averaging only .85 in the 18-49 demo, with 4.631 million viewers.
The season one, and now series, finale airs on May 25th.

This is one of my new favorite shows! Why do stations keep cancelling the good shows and keeping the crap ones! I’m so annoyed that heartbeat isn’t coming back. What a joke!

Everytime an enjoyable, entertaining show comes on that appeals to the intellect, it gets axed before it even has time to get off the ground. Recently, too many shows have aired on network television that were watchable with the family, weren’t inane with a laugh track, weren’t bloody and violent, they got axed. I’m sick of it. We pay a FORTUNE for cable, just to be treated like dirt after the bill is paid. NETFLIX is looking better and better. DO NOT CANCEL HEARTBEAT! Please don’t cancel it!! I love this show! It’s so refreshing getting to see a woman Doctor as a star of a show! Plus the ending was not satisfying. I wanted to know more of the character’s ending.
LOVE, LOVE , LOVE this show! It reminds me of a new Greys ! I would rather see this that the Night Shift!

We LOVE this show. Can’t believe it wouldn’t get more if a chance. Why are all the good shows cancelled and the rotten ones renewed. Terrible decision. Guess we will gave to check out ABC and CBS
