What is your damage? TV Land has greenlit the Heathers TV show pilot, inspired by the 1988 feature film starring Winona Ryder, Christian Slater, Shannen Doherty, Lisanne Falk, and Kim Walker. As revealed when cable outlet ordered the pilot script in March, the new potential series is set in the present and will be an anthology.
Writer and director Leslye Headland has been tapped to direct. She was a staff writer on Terriers, which was cancelled after one season on FX. Jason A. Micallef wrote the pilot. “HEATHERS” PILOT GREENLIT AT TV LAND WITH LESLYE HEADLAND DIRECTING
Los Angeles, CA – September 6, 2016 – After announcing a script deal in March, TV Land has greenlit the pilot for “Heathers,” based on the 1988 cult classic film of the same name. Leslye Headland (“Sleeping with Other People,” “Bachelorette”) will direct the pitch-black comedy. Reimagined as an anthology, “Heathers” will be set in the present day, as our heroine deals with a very different but equally vicious group of Heathers. The script is written by Jason Micallef (“Butter”), and Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi will executive produce for Lakeshore Entertainment.
Headland is repped by UTA and Anonymous Content. The “Heathers” pilot is expected to shoot later this fall.
