You can’t keep the home fires burning in UK. The Home Fires TV show has been cancelled by ITV. Actor Daniel Ryan, who played Bryn Brindsley in the World War II era drama, broke the bad news on Twitter. His tweet reads: “So, it is with huge sadness I must tell you that #HomeFires has been cancelled. Awful to leave stories untold and lives incomplete. Sorry.”
Executive producer Catherine Oldfield also tweeted about the Home Fires cancellation, saying: “So very sorry that #Homefires won’t be back. We loved making the show & that it was well received by so many made it all the more special.” The Home Fires cast also includes: Samantha Bond, Francesca Annis, Ruth Gemmell, Claire Rushbrook, Ed Stoppard, Chris Coghill, Clare Calbraith, Fenella Woolgar, Mark Bazeley, and Mike Noble. Many of them have tweeted about the cancellation, too.
The second season of the Home Fires TV series is set during the summer of 1940. The village of Great Paxford is caught up in the the Battle of Britain. Two weeks after the defeat at Dunkirk, with the German army advancing through France, Britain braces itself for invasion.
Home Fires season two ended on a cliffhanger, with a plane nose-diving into a home in the village.

Radio Times reports ITV has confirmed it cancelled Home Fires. “An ITV spokesman said: ‘We are incredibly proud of what Home Fires has achieved, but the ITV commissioning team continues to refresh the channel’s drama portfolio, hence the decision not to commission a further new series’.”
The Radio Times poll currently shows 97% of respondents disagree with ITV’s decision to cancel Home Fires. Fans are petitioning ITV via Change.org, to recommission Home Fires for a third season. As of this writing, it has 7,463 signatures. In the US, the first season of Home Fires premiered on PBS in October, 2015.

I just binged watches both seasons of Home Fires over a three-day period. Loved it! I then looked for season 3 and discovered the series had been cancelled. Unbelievable!! At lunch today, I had told two friends they needed to watch this show. I will now have to tell them do not watch it as you will be as upset as I am that the show was cancelled, leaving all the story lines unresolved. Lynn, upon learning that I was a subscriber to our local PBS station here in the U.S., a British friend told me that I MUST watch Home Fires. I may never speak to her again. What an amazing story and cast!! What a rotten thing for ITV to do in cancelling the series! I cannot believe you would simply discontinue this excellent series and at such a cliff
hanger. I will make sure I never watch anything you produce in the future. After all, it
will probably be cancelled. I don’t know if this is a ploy for publicity or not, but it is
never the less a very unethical thing to do.
This was such a thought provoking and well acted series. I am heartbroken to not have been able to find out if Pat succeeded in leaving her husband. I do hope some reconsideration will occur and we can again pick up Home Fires.
Why are you cancelling this wonderful program. I am so sorry to hear that it is not coming back. PLEASE bring it back. You have left us wondering what happens to the people. A lot of people are very disappointed in your decision.
If you are going to continue to make money on this series by letting Amazon Prime, show it, then please finish the damn series. It’s sorry that you feel the need to leave people hanging . I will look for things you produce and make sure I do not watch them, you people have no consideration for the public.
I have waiting for season 3 and am heartbroken that it has been cancelled. I loved (or hated) the characters, the plots, and thought it was one of the best shows airing. I can’t understand the decision by ITV to cancel it. Bad decision!

Just completed watching season 1 & 2. Was checking to see when season 3 would start and terribly disappointed to see that it is being cancelled. Well written show with a terrific acting.
So sad that Home Fires was canceled. It was an excellent show that was very well written and I would love to see it brought back on TV!

I am very disappointed that Home Fires will not be back for another season. The story was very good. I believed in every character and wanted to know what will happen to each and every one. Please reconsider the cancellation.
This is a fantastically engrossing tale of the other side of war. It saddens me deeply that the show is cancelled. I am a retired infantryman of 25 years and Home Fires is truly the sort of needed drama that shows heroism is not strictly confined to the military. I sincerely hope the show is brought back.
So very disappointed Home Fires has been cancelled. It is a wonderful story. Another bad decision among so many. Quality entertainment is becoming more and more scarce. Please reconsider.
This has been one of my absolute favorite shows. I was so looking forward to a third season. Can’t another studio make it? It’s too good to let go. I’m so sad. The characters, scenery, and story were so special. Not like another show in the US. And the music is wonderful. PLEASE FIND A WAY TO BRING IT BACK!!!
