Christopher Chance and company have been struggling in the ratings this season and FOX isn’t exactly helping them out. On Wednesday, the pair of scheduled Human Target episodes were pre-empted by President Obama’s speech from Tucson. Those episodes have been rescheduled for tonight, an evening when viewership is much lower and many fans of the show will probably miss them.
Now, FOX has decided to expand the Wednesday, January 26th edition of American Idol to two hours. As a result, the previously scheduled episode of Human Target will be bumped to Monday, January 31st. It’ll precede the final Lie to Me of the season (and possibly the series). The network hasn’t announced it yet but, if the two-hour Idol on the 26th is a success, FOX could certainly decide to expand the next couple episodes which would displace the last two episodes of Human Target’s season. While the series was once going to get a ratings boost from an Idol lead-in, it’s now getting shuffled around instead.
It would seem that FOX has all but given up on the series. At this point, it’s hard to blame them. The ratings certainly don’t warrant a third round of episodes. Season one averaged a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.6 million viewers and it was almost cancelled with those numbers. Thus far, season two has averaged just a pitiful 1.6 rating and 6.04 million total viewers. Human Target is currently the lowest-rated scripted show on the network.
It seems that Human Target is already destined to be cancelled and these latest schedule changes will be the final blow.
What do you think? Will Human Target be renewed for season three or cancelled? What would you suggest doing to increase the ratings?

Human Target is a terrific, entertaining series that steps beyond more predictable television fare. My significant other and I are 58-year-old boomers and we love this show. In fact, everyone I’ve recommended it to LOVES this series too. Furthermore, we’re also sick to death of reality shows and contests. Mark Valley is a believable lead, Chi McBride is perfect as a mentor and friend, but Jackie Earl Haley really nails the twisted yet likable Guerrero character. Bravo. The Human Target cast members have chemistry and are great together, the character development is progressing and the writing is clever without being… Read more »
Do not take this wonderful, fabulously cast, smart and highly entertaining show off the air. When Mark Valley left Boston Legal (it was way before the show ended) there was a void. Not only were his smile and striking looks sorely missed but he added charisma and humor to that excellent show. Here he has his own vehicle which he shares so beautifully with the rest of the talented cast. There is a huge fan base for Human Target – I personally know of 20 or 30 Human Target screening parties across the country each with at least 10 people… Read more »
WHY WOULD YOU CANCEL THIS SHOW??? WE LOVE THIS ACTION PACKED SHOW! WHO REALLY WANTS TO WATCH REALITY TELEVISION EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! THE SHOW IS AWESOME AND LOVE THE CAST! PLEASE TELL US HOW TO HELP KEEP IT ON
great show. save human target
Im in that target age bracket and its my favorite show. FOX back it up solidly and it will Pay off.
I am absolutely horrified that Fox would cancel this show. It is one of the most fun shows on the air. The characters are delightful. Why spoil something that we enjoy? I understand that reality shows cost less to produce, (and they show it) but sometimes network need to bite the bullet and let viewers have something entertaining.
My husband and I love this show! Love the characters, the humor and all the cool spy plots. I hope they renew it!!
please keep this on i love this show it keeps me entertained and it rocks and i always can’t wait for the day it is on.
I always looked forward to this program. The writing seemed a little sharper in the earlier episodes. Last night got a little hokey. I do hope though that they don’t cancel it. I enjoy all the interaction between the men. A lot of clever dialogue and such good acting!
I don’t understand why a great show like Human Target is not getting the support from Fox it deserves. This is a great show and the cast is very good. I am not into reality shows and wish there were more shows like this on TV. Maybe since American Idol is back and they put Human Target on after it maybe that will help it. The time keeps moving around and that needs to stop. Now that they have revealed the possible relationship with Illsa and Chance that will bring something different to the show. Maybe we need to start… Read more »
love the show…keep it on
This show will be cancelled just like another great show on fox “FIREFLY”
I like the show. Irritated me when they kept changing when it was showing. The last few episodes were really funny and good. Liked the inept Harry. They should add him to the show. Very funny character with redeeming character traits.
Remember when America stood for being the good guys? Here is a band of misfits, including the gruff but lovable Guerrero, that is carrying that banner like the A-Team of the 21st century. Even funnier, but much less retarded humor. I think networks have become like serial daters of prostitutes, and that should improve. If a show doesn’t “put out” unrealistic ratings, it is a failure. So then they come up with another show, get the exact same slice of a shrinking pie, and they can that too. TAKE THE PIE SLICE AND RUN WITH IT. Give up on the… Read more »
Love the show. Used to watch 24 and this is an excellent replacement. Left feeling light hearted and happy when it’s done which is a plus. Fabulous mix of characters. It’s family night when HT is on no matter what time slot they stick it in. A steady time slot would help the show. Please keep it going!
