Christopher Chance and company have been struggling in the ratings this season and FOX isn’t exactly helping them out. On Wednesday, the pair of scheduled Human Target episodes were pre-empted by President Obama’s speech from Tucson. Those episodes have been rescheduled for tonight, an evening when viewership is much lower and many fans of the show will probably miss them.
Now, FOX has decided to expand the Wednesday, January 26th edition of American Idol to two hours. As a result, the previously scheduled episode of Human Target will be bumped to Monday, January 31st. It’ll precede the final Lie to Me of the season (and possibly the series). The network hasn’t announced it yet but, if the two-hour Idol on the 26th is a success, FOX could certainly decide to expand the next couple episodes which would displace the last two episodes of Human Target’s season. While the series was once going to get a ratings boost from an Idol lead-in, it’s now getting shuffled around instead.
It would seem that FOX has all but given up on the series. At this point, it’s hard to blame them. The ratings certainly don’t warrant a third round of episodes. Season one averaged a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.6 million viewers and it was almost cancelled with those numbers. Thus far, season two has averaged just a pitiful 1.6 rating and 6.04 million total viewers. Human Target is currently the lowest-rated scripted show on the network.
It seems that Human Target is already destined to be cancelled and these latest schedule changes will be the final blow.
What do you think? Will Human Target be renewed for season three or cancelled? What would you suggest doing to increase the ratings?

My husband and I have watched every show up to now, and although I’M a TV nut, my husband hardly listens to it anymore, saying there too much **** left, not enough substance left. WHat would help would be KEEPING IT STABLE IN THE SCHEDULE! Peleaze! All this shuffling isn’t helping. Also, I much prefered the initial concept of the team going arounde in the world instead of having it a little static within that new office setting. Looking forward to seeing where that romance with the new owner will lead them. I agree with Courtjester, All three shows Human… Read more »
This is one great show put together, as I understand, with a lower budget than alot of other shows.
I agree that the first season was a bit better but I still really look foward to watching every episode, provided I can find it with Fox shifting it all over the place!
I have already purchased the first season on dvd.
PLEASE Fox network, keep this show another season and keep alot of loyal viewers happy!!!
We always watch and DVR this show. Demographics? Try high appeal to 50-60 and 25-35. These are the fan groups in our house! It’s smart and the characters have finally found their stride. The humor is subtle and clearly more stylish and believable than the A-team ever was….! Changes that could be made: new girl character is kind of weak and seems hard to find her fit in the team. Get a strong sound track gimmick that is memorable…. and explore the dark corners in each character’s back stories. Also throw in some timely topics….our current is world is full… Read more »
It has nothing to do with demographics. Our family is made up of teenagers, college aged twenty somethings, 50 somethings and 80 somethings!! We all love it.
Our family has watched every single Human Target (both seasons) and LOVE IT!! Please, please do not cancel it. It is the perfect combination of action, humor and suspense without being overly gruesome for prime time TV.
This is by far the best action show on tv. I am a senior citizen and fox should pay attention to the wisdom of us older folks and take their noses out of the buttholes of so-called ratings. Where do these ratings come from? >>Your buttholes?
I agree with Steve Greer assessment of the show, liked the first season better in every way. But regardless a big older fan of the show, hope if fox drops it maybe another primetime network will pick it up! I hate the way they give up too soon on what could be a great show.
Don ‘t you all get so tired of finaly finding a show you like only to have it on the chopping block. Oh by the way I am 54 yrs. Old so you can shove your demographic in your you know where
Human Target is one of the few entertaining shows on broadcast television. It’s no wonder the dopes who program Fox want to kill it. No one can find the show because they move it so often. They can’t even think far enough ahead to update the TV listings so those of us who have it set to record in the DVR miss it. They never really gave it a fair chance. That’s why most of what I watch comes from streaming video and the internet.
I agree with everyone else here on this…KEEP HUMAN TARGET ON THE AIR!!! And while we’re at it…KEEP LIE TO ME on the air as well!!! These are 2 great shows and frankly, I’m getting tired of watching the shows that I really enjoy keep getting canceled because of these stupid ratings! Do they take into account those who DVR & those people who simply watch online because it is more convenient?? I HATE sitting through commercials & simply refuse to watch my shows at the regular air time because of all of the commercials. I like being able to… Read more »
wow. big shocker there from fox. thanks for canceling another great show. guess i should be used to it by now . . .
apparently there is no one in the control tower . HUMAN TARGET is an excellent show.
I love Human Target. Don’t you dare cancel it!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Our family has watched every Human Target episode and we are big fans. To improve ratings and save the show I would drop the new girl (whose acting leaves a lot to be desired), go back to season one musical theme (new theme music really sucks), the new owner of the business can stay provided they delve into her background more and develop her relationship with Chance a bit more, but mostly I would go back to the type of episodes they did in season one; more reliance on the three main characters and ratchet up the humor they had… Read more »
I watch human target, every night. I also DVR it. It’s upsetting to know it’s going to cancel but I have become so immune to it from FOX. It’s disappointing and completely upsetting but what are you going to do against a big bad network that can’t get it’s act together. I gives out good shows just never waits long enough.
