Christopher Chance and company have been struggling in the ratings this season and FOX isn’t exactly helping them out. On Wednesday, the pair of scheduled Human Target episodes were pre-empted by President Obama’s speech from Tucson. Those episodes have been rescheduled for tonight, an evening when viewership is much lower and many fans of the show will probably miss them.
Now, FOX has decided to expand the Wednesday, January 26th edition of American Idol to two hours. As a result, the previously scheduled episode of Human Target will be bumped to Monday, January 31st. It’ll precede the final Lie to Me of the season (and possibly the series). The network hasn’t announced it yet but, if the two-hour Idol on the 26th is a success, FOX could certainly decide to expand the next couple episodes which would displace the last two episodes of Human Target’s season. While the series was once going to get a ratings boost from an Idol lead-in, it’s now getting shuffled around instead.
It would seem that FOX has all but given up on the series. At this point, it’s hard to blame them. The ratings certainly don’t warrant a third round of episodes. Season one averaged a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.6 million viewers and it was almost cancelled with those numbers. Thus far, season two has averaged just a pitiful 1.6 rating and 6.04 million total viewers. Human Target is currently the lowest-rated scripted show on the network.
It seems that Human Target is already destined to be cancelled and these latest schedule changes will be the final blow.
What do you think? Will Human Target be renewed for season three or cancelled? What would you suggest doing to increase the ratings?

The way they tally their so called “ratings” has been and still is a joke. I have no doubt that many more people are watching Human Target than FOX has a clue about.
Human Target is one of the VERY few TV shows that my wife and I never miss. There is so little on TV these days that is of any quality that when show like this comes along with solid story, great actors, beautiful camera work and style, that I can’t wait to buy the boxed set.
For regular Network shows, this one is a standout. Please renew ASAP.
Thanks
the chief programmers at fox should be terminated. they continue to screw around with good show’s schedules and they wonder why ratings drop. I could do a better job! the idiots even messed around with house’s schedule, which is probably their best show.
I’ve been watching Human Target since season 1. The only shows that can honestly measure up are White Collar and Burn Notice on USA. FOX needs to realize most of America is sick of American Idol. It’s about high time FOX keeps quality shows like Human Target around! And hands down this season was amazing!!! I am dying to see what the writers and producers come up with next season if the show comes back….which I am praying it does!! If not…I guess Jersey Shore is the only entertainment I can look forward to…so sad!
just watched it – loved it. great characters, great action.
I would love to see a third season of Human Target, the characters are compelling and their interaction is fabilous. Fox would be loosing a winner in the long run if it cancles this program.

Just read Vicki’s comments – I like hers even more than mine. What’s wrong Fox, not enough boobs to keep the male audience?
I really hope they don’t cancel Human Target. It is much better than so many of the dead-body shows that are on now. My husband and I love this show, but the network keeps moving it around, and even pre-empting it after publishing the air time. In fact, at the given time, there was no notice about when it WOULD be on. Network people, GIVE IT A CHANCE! (And pardon the pun.)
Human Target is great fun and full of interesting characters…..put in on Saturday night…..there’s nothing happening on Saturday nights…..
The further season 2 went, the greater my disappointment. The writing for the women’s roles has been horrible, there is NO chemistry between Chance and Ilsa – the relationship seems purely manufactured. I don’t know if it’s a writing or an acting issue, but it was one of the more frustrating items on the show. It was just never believable. I don’t mean to stomp on anyone’s politically correct ideas (I’m a woman myself), but writing women into regular roles in season 2 was a HUGE mistake and ruined was was (in season 1) a great show. I want so… Read more »
I loved Season 1, but the addition of the 2 useless females in Season 2 DESTROYED the show. Did you really have to dumb it down? Chance falling for the annoying Ilsa is unfathomable! I have no respect for the character anymore! That’s NOT building a fan base, you fools. Thanks for the Guerrero episode, though, it was a nice parting gift. You should consider a Guerrero spin-off…but then you’d destroy him too.
I agree. Ilsa is annoying. It was so much better before them.
Human Target my current favorite show on tv – don’t cancel! Bring it back.
human target great show fresh new ideas,.. csi shows have killed people everyway possible
my family and my daughters love human target. the csi shows are old .only ncis is watched
Human Target should not be cancelled. The cast has great chemistry together and it has gotten more and more intriguing in the last 3 episodes, and Guerrero is a wonderful character. If you’re going to cancel anything on Channel 31, get rid of American Idol. That’s a painful show to watch.
