Christopher Chance and company have been struggling in the ratings this season and FOX isn’t exactly helping them out. On Wednesday, the pair of scheduled Human Target episodes were pre-empted by President Obama’s speech from Tucson. Those episodes have been rescheduled for tonight, an evening when viewership is much lower and many fans of the show will probably miss them.
Now, FOX has decided to expand the Wednesday, January 26th edition of American Idol to two hours. As a result, the previously scheduled episode of Human Target will be bumped to Monday, January 31st. It’ll precede the final Lie to Me of the season (and possibly the series). The network hasn’t announced it yet but, if the two-hour Idol on the 26th is a success, FOX could certainly decide to expand the next couple episodes which would displace the last two episodes of Human Target’s season. While the series was once going to get a ratings boost from an Idol lead-in, it’s now getting shuffled around instead.
It would seem that FOX has all but given up on the series. At this point, it’s hard to blame them. The ratings certainly don’t warrant a third round of episodes. Season one averaged a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.6 million viewers and it was almost cancelled with those numbers. Thus far, season two has averaged just a pitiful 1.6 rating and 6.04 million total viewers. Human Target is currently the lowest-rated scripted show on the network.
It seems that Human Target is already destined to be cancelled and these latest schedule changes will be the final blow.
What do you think? Will Human Target be renewed for season three or cancelled? What would you suggest doing to increase the ratings?

Love the show. Lose the bitchy boss. Stop changing time slots.
I will be very disappointed if Human Target is canceled as the rest of my family will be. We watch this show as a family and really enjoy it. We have already lost too many favorites due to “reality” and “talk show” television, it would be a shame to lose another one. Human Target did not get the advertisements that enabled it to be known and the fault lies with the network, not the show. I hope that should FOX decide to cancel it, then CBS or ABC will see fit to pick it up and give it the advertising… Read more »
I agree completely with the previous comment. She couldn’t have said it better!. I am sick to death of American Idol and do not plan on watching it this season without Simon.
I love Human Target and will be very upset if it is canceled!!! Give it a permanent time slot and give it another season! PLEASE!!!!!
I agree that it was a tremdous show. I also agree that I became really aggrevated when it was on, then it was off. And what about the 8 o”clock tine slot. Seems as if it should be later in the evening. Oh well, I applaud the folks putting the show together and the actors who contributed their talents and time. Thanks to you for a quality show !
Fox, come on! This is the only 24-esque show on. Why would you toss it away? It is a watch and re-watch it again and again show!!!!
I totally agree with the preceeding comments. The show was never given a chance and when you can’t ever find the show cause the networks keep bumping it around, it is hard to keep viewers. It is a very good show, alot more interesting than Hawaii 5-O
There are a ample reasons for Fox to retain this show. When regularly scheduled, the last few weeks have shown an increase in viewership http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/fox-tv-show-ratings-19033/ . It is a very entertaining show with great writers and outstanding actors. It has had changes that allow it appeal to a broader spectrum of audience members, and especially the female actors offer a less machismo approach than other action-adventure shows. Last week’s shows had the second-highest rating since the season’s opener combined with a 21% increase in viewers recently, so something is turning around the viewing numbers. I can only hope that Fox… Read more »
WHY ON EARTH WOULD FOX CANCEL THIS SHOW?? IN MY BOOK IT IS FAR BETTER THAN ANY OF THE OTHER ACTION SHOWS THAT ARE NOW ON NBC, ABC OR CBS. IT HAS NOT BEEN MARKETED AT ALL. PERHAPS IT SHOULD BE PICKED UP BY ONE OF THE OTHER NETWORKS LIKE CBS! AFTER ALL LOOK AT THE SUCCESS OF “NCIS,” “NCIS LA” AND “HAWAII FIVE O.” I LOVE THESE SHOWS AND IN MY BOOK “HUMAN TARGET” FAR OUT RANKS ALL THREE OF THEM! BIG MISTAKE TO CANCEL THIS SHOW!!!!
Human Target has never been given a chance. Bounced around re day and time of showing, pre-empted by other shows. I am not an “American Idol” fan. Find it very boring and childish. I enjoy the entertainment, adventure and characters on Human Target. Give it a chance. Excellent cast, good story lines, real vicarious adventure. Rahs for the show and cast, with one exception – don’t need the rich lady trying to run things. It was better the first season without her.
Just started watching this..found it by accident and absolutely love it…this is messed up…I agree they need to market it more…it’s a great show!!
I can’t believe Fox is canceling The Human Target!! It was great last season and is even better now. What the F___ox!!
Leave it in ONE TIMESLOT!!!! How the hell are you supposed to watch a show if you can’t find it? Of course they’ll cancel anything that is truly entertaining, like Human Target or Lie To Me. They’d rather schedule drivel like American Idol Idiots, or some other reality BS show that you couldn’t pay me enough to watch. Complete morons. Guess I won’t be watching anything on their channel.
Could not agree with the 2 previous comments more. Very well said indeed. Fox has a penchant for ********-over shows that have a cult following just because of poor ratings. Hmm… maybe if they didn’t keep shuffling air dates, causing extra delays between season premieres or pre-empting the show entirely (surprise, surprise, my DVR though Obama’s speech was the show since the guide didn’t update in time), then maybe these types of shows wouldn’t be left with a snowball’s chance in hell at surviving for more than 1 or 2 seasons. What’s worse is when they kill a show half-way… Read more »
This is what FOX gets for introducing two (well one at least) female characters that add nothing to the show. The new female boss promised to be a silent partner but has done nothing but whining all season. It is both boring and annoying to listen to her bickering when insted we could have Chance and Guerrero in the streets handing out knuckle sandwiches:) Get rid of the girls, that is my suggestion for saving the show.
A cancellation would just reinforce the reality that idiots run the networks. It seems they take the attitude that they can just drop shows into any night on a whim because everyone has a recorder that will automatically record it or they’ll watch them on their computer or via On Demand. Of course, that’s absolutely ridiculous. This attitude combined with the extended time between seasons alienates viewers. Anybody that is sitting on the fence about a show automatically abandons it because it’s a hassle to find when the show is actually on. My wife and I really enjoy this show… Read more »
Human Target is a very entertaining show with a great casts. However, the show did not get a chance to market themselves to the viewers because of the network time slots and delays. The show should have been given a fix time slot and better marketing by the network. Human Target should be renewed and given a fair opportunity to prove themselves that it is a great show to many.
