AMC has had incredible ratings success with The Walking Dead. Unfortunately, the rest of their scripted shows have struggled to find a large audience. Will Humans be another hit for the cable channel? Will it be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.
Set in suburban London, Humans takes place in a parallel present, where the latest must-have gadget for any busy family is a Synthetic. They’re highly-developed robotic servants that are eerily similar to their live counterparts. Unfortunately things don’t always go well and the series follows several storylines concurrently. The cast includes Colin Morgan, Gemma Chan, Katherine Parkinson, Tom Goodman-Hill, William Hurt, Will Tudor, Rebecca Front, Neil Maskell, Danny Webb, Ivanno Jeremiah, Emily Berrington, Sope Dirisu, Lucy Carless, Theo Stevenson, Pixie Davies, and Ruth Bradley.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
7/31 update: This show has been renewed for a second season.
Final season averages: 0.39 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.18 million total viewers.

What do you think? Do you like the Humans TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I love the show but by all indications this will be a “One and Done” series. Although I’d love to see more seasons stretching things out usually waters down the writing, acting, etc. Sometimes a finite run is the best way to go since all involved can go “all in” to produce the best show possible.
I do see many roads that “Humans” can take if it gets renewed and it would be a very interesting ride, but everything points to the series ending with Episode 8.
The show has a great story. Then we have great actors in it. So, I ask “How can this show not make it to a second season?” Either that or people just do not like shows that have a story that takes time to progress. Maybe people just want to see lame junk shows that the story is totally developed and the only thing to wonder about is who is sleeping with who! This Leo character is a story in itself. His father downloaded his brain into a synth after he died? I mean a double wow and some major… Read more »
I liked this show from the very beginning and hope it does get renewed. My sci-fi buddies never heard of it before a few days ago. I think there is no advertising of this show to insure it gets cancelled! I have seen it before where a show gets no media, but get great internet buzz, so they change dates and or timeslots to try to make it fail. Everything is tied into the youth demographic as if they are the only ones on the planet that matter. This sucks big time and lots of shows were cancelled because of… Read more »
Really like the show, I hope it catches on and more people start to watch it so it won’t be cancelled. I really like scifi that is realistic and you don’t need a PHD to understand. This show has the right amount of sciifi and drama, hope it lasts!!!
Acting is not that great, script is average at best. Too many whiny and bland characters!
They have a talented group of actors and the script has been great. Disappointed in the ratings because I’d like to see the show continue. I agree with others that it needs more time to develop a viewer base.
Trouble with most stations – they don’t give shows a chance – look at NCIS – took almost 5 seasons before it was a hit. I love Humans. Intelligent scripts. William Hurt is an added surprise!
I find Humans very well done science fiction with a good connection to what waits for us in the future. The advance of A.I. is guaranteed with human intelligence eventually left in the dust. Probably scares away some of the audience, but I hope it gets time to catch on.
Give it a chance. It is interesting but weak. If it gets
renewed for season 2 I will be surprised.
The scripts is really well written and the fine line of humans vs robotics is well done by going deeper into the minds of how close robots will actually simulate humans and how humans react to some of their “benefits”. Great cast, especially Gemma Chan as Anita and Niska as Emily Berrington. Both very beautiful but polar opposites, so far. Niska acts like she could be the next Jean Claude Van Damme. Hopefully this will get renewed. I have seen that 18-49 demographics get rid of a lot of great shows just because they didn’t make the numbers the first… Read more »
I first saw Synths on Night Gallery in 1972. S2E21 You can’t get help like that anymore. I still do like HUMANS and watch it. They really did call them synths then.
I watched the first episode and it caught my interest right away. I set my TV to record any other episodes so I would not miss one. I hope this show gets a fair chance. I have mentioned it to friends, family, and no one even heard of it. How is the show supposed to survive if there is no media hype. Give them a chance!!!! Great show so far.
I seen the first two episodes and I believe that this is a really good season. If you had not seen it yet to watch it befor talking about it. I would like for this TV show to continue making it shows and make it to season 2.
“Unfortunately, the rest of their scripted shows have struggled to find a large audience.”
Breaking Bad struggled to find a large audience?
Breaking Bad’s final season, which had its best ratings by far, averaged only 4.3 million. The most recent season of Walking Dead averaged 14.4 million.
Personally, I like anything Sci-fi related, the problem is the networks don’t give the show enough time for viewers to get interested before they cancel it. This BS about ratings is a crock of crap, too many good shows were cancelled because of this. The first episode of Humvns definitely caught my interest, I love British shows and this one I will definitely be watching.
