The Inspector Lewis TV show on PBS announces the eighth and final season premieres Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 9:00pm ET. In the US, the final season, starring Kevin Whately and Laurence Fox, consists of three 90-minute episodes. Since Inspector Lewis is a sequel series to Inspector Morse, Whately and Fox decided to retire from their roles after 33 episodes, as an homage to John Thaw, who played Chief Inspector Morse for 33 episodes.
In UK, the series is known simply as Lewis. Because PBS combined the second and third UK series into one season, the final season of Inspector Lewis on PBS is considered the eighth. In UK, Lewis, which has already concluded its ITV run, is considered a nine series (season) program. Through the years the cast of Inspector Lewis has featured Rebecca Front, Angela Griffin, Claire Holman, Jason Durr, and Steve Toussaint. The Inspector Lewis TV series finale is slated for Sunday, August 21 at 9:00pm ET. Check your local listings.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the Inspector Lewis TV show? Do you plan to watch the finale season and Inspector Lewis TV series finale on PBS?
I dunno… Seems like they have left the door open for more; Robbie and Laura away for only 6 months…James coming into his own. I wouldn’t give up hope of a return
Thank you PBS for lining up ITV programming for us. Please keep it coming! I have watched every episode of Lewis. I was disappointed in the finale. Seemed like kind of fizzled fuse rather than a bang. Still enjoyable.
It’s a shame, another one of the better tv shows is going off the air! I hope they will reconsider..
II HAVE BEEN A FAN OF LEWIS SINCE ITS FIRST EPISODE, & HAVE NEVER MISSED ONE. WILL BE SORRY TO SEE IT END, BRIITISH
MYSTERIES ARE THE BEST!!………..THANK YOU PBS.
My husband and I enjoyed Morse and Lewis very much. We’re hoping PBS will bring more of these kinds of programs to us. The British shows are always very good.
Loved the show.
I would love love to see a Hathaway spin off with Lewis doing some cameos.
We would love to see Hathaway go forward
Love the show hate to see it gone.
Sure wish this show wasn’t ending. Really well done!
I love the series and sincerely hope the will be future shows
I hate to see this series end. Loved Morse, love Lewis and Hathaway. I worry about them both and want to see them settled. Is there any hope of another season?
I am going to miss Lewis and Hathaway and hope they will be back after a break.
I prefer the British shows and wish we could have a British station here.
When can we expect Inspector Hathaway?
Love Lewis. Hate to see it end. PBS and British series are the best. Loved Foyle too.
As an American all I want to watch is British Drama, Masterpiece Theater/Mystery, BBC, PBS!!! No violence or vulgarity, no guns either! It’s so refreshing.
I can’t wait for the final season of Lewis! I have always enjoyed the show, in fact I love all British detective shows, maybe that is because I am British, now living in Canada!
