Last week, news broke that Kevin James’ King of Queens co-star, Leah Remini, will be a season regular in the second season of his new CBS sitcom, Kevin Can Wait. Now we have learned Erinn Hayes, who played Donna Gable, the wife of James’ character, has been let go.
Reportedly, season two of Kevin Can Wait is going off in a new direction, creatively. Remini, who guest-starred as retired police officer Kevin Gable’s (James) former partner, Vanessa Cellucci, in the season one finale, will return in that role, next season.
Hayes confirmed her reluctant departure from the CBS comedy on social media, tweeting, “True, I’ve been let go from the show. Very sad, I had a great experience season 1. Thank you for all the support from our wonderful fans.”

What do you think? Do you think Kevin Can Wait will explain Donna’s absence in season two, or will they just reboot the TV show, entirely? Are you glad Remini has joined the series? Let us know, below.
My previous statement stands because I am so incensed at this move. The show works BECAUSE of her and Kevin’s relationship. ((steam is still coming out of my ears))
She was SOoOOooOOOOooooo funny. This is crap!
Just one more reason not to watch the show. I hate casting changes.
We like this show, it’s funny but now that Leah is gonna be on the show we think it will be even funnier. Not understanding y they let Erinn go, she’s a big part of the show, it will be very interesting to see how they go about it
It wasn’t THAT funny. Man With A Plan is MUCH FUNNIER!
then watch Man With A Plan instead
I agree with Debbie. This is a stupid move. Donna is an important part of the show. I thought she and Kevin had great chemistry and she played a great mother. Getting rid of her will change the whole dynamic of the show.
Why would you drop the original actress that played he’s wife in season 1. That is just not right. She was the best at playing he’s wife. And very wrong of you guys to drop her. I liked the actress the played he’s wife in season 2. That is sad and very wrong you dropped her.
I cannot understand this move. Donna Gable is as important to the show as anyone. My husband is very upset. You just lost two viewers. Stupid move.
I will give it a few episodes and go from there. I enjoyed Erinn Hayes in her role and cannot imagine how a wife and mother can be deleted completely. I found the last 2 episodes of season 1 to be ridiculous not humorous. The King of Queens is dead, move on.
Didn’t care for King of Queens or this show, more so for King of Queens. What do they have in common, Kevin James who I don’t think is funny.
Dropping a cast member is sending a message that family members dont matter?!?! Mr. Anderson, if you are looking to a half assed sitcom for your moral compass, and set of values…. God save us all!
Heyyyy I couldn’t stand the wife on the show . Boring and never a laugh from me. Glad to see her go!! Now I’m gonna watch!!!
This show is HEELARIOUS, so if you’re not a Kevin James, King of Queens or Leah Remini fan, then of course this won’t be your kind of comedy. These two have great chemistry, especially comedic chemistry that you can’t teach. The Episode that Leah was on, at the end when they were roasting each other was totally ad-libbed and it was hilarious! Even they had to keep from laughing themselves! I’m shocked at this move, but I also get it from a chemistry and ratings standpoint. There were A LOT of King of Queens fans, myself included, and those fans… Read more »
It ONLY worked BECAUSE of the family structure. You cannot replace Donna with Kevin’s partner.
I couldn’t agree more!! I loved King of Queens! Kevin James and Leah Remini have the perfect chemistry which is why King of Queens was such a huge success. Reboots of popular and successful sitcoms are the direction all the networks are taking right now and I don’t believe this is an exception. CBS is the home network of King of Queens and I’m sensing the direction is going to be to scrap Kevin Can Wait completely and reboot King of Queens.
I wander if their is something else going on behind the scenes, did the managers at CBS fired her because of their longing to King of Queens or it’s a creative decision from the producers of the show?
Guess we’ll never know
This will be like King of Queens all over again. All they do is fight with each other. Is that all there is left????
I enjoyed her more on the show, than i did him. I’m sad to see her go.
