Last week, news broke that Kevin James’ King of Queens co-star, Leah Remini, will be a season regular in the second season of his new CBS sitcom, Kevin Can Wait. Now we have learned Erinn Hayes, who played Donna Gable, the wife of James’ character, has been let go.
Reportedly, season two of Kevin Can Wait is going off in a new direction, creatively. Remini, who guest-starred as retired police officer Kevin Gable’s (James) former partner, Vanessa Cellucci, in the season one finale, will return in that role, next season.
Hayes confirmed her reluctant departure from the CBS comedy on social media, tweeting, “True, I’ve been let go from the show. Very sad, I had a great experience season 1. Thank you for all the support from our wonderful fans.”

What do you think? Do you think Kevin Can Wait will explain Donna’s absence in season two, or will they just reboot the TV show, entirely? Are you glad Remini has joined the series? Let us know, below.
This is sad Hollywood b s and I’m sorry for Erin
If Leah was available why not just cast her as Kevin’s wife in the pilot
Some are saying how low this network is. Well what want they done this for times.
What the hell did you just say^^^
basics of reading my help you the message.
There was no believability or chemistry as husband and wife between the characters or the actors. I say if you have to let the actress go because of the lack of that then do it, but stop trying to remake the King of Queens. It was an obnoxious series then and it will be again.
What a horrible idea! The thing I liked the most about KEVIN CAN WAIT was that it was not KING OF QUEENS, and now it can’t help but be the same show, rebooted. I also like Erinn Hayes a lot more than I’ve ever liked Leah Remini (rather similar to the Tim Allen/Patricia Richardson/Nancy Travis situation, where the second wife is far more likable). And just imagine how we’re supposed to feel about the children in their marriage on this “comedy” if (as implied by the season finale) she leaves him (and them) for a career. Ichh.
Realy enjoyed the show! I am not crazy about Leah and most likely will not watch the show anymore. I watched King of Queens for a while but really got tored of watching Leah belittle her husband. Too bad you are ruining a funny show!!!!!!
Well CBS continues 2 make bad & low of the lowest scum of the earth decisions w/its actors & shows!
I didnt watch this show!
But u stil, just dont treat people,
the way they have,
n the last few yrs!
1 day,
Dont 4get
What goes around,
comes around!
When the wife of the main character is killed off after one season, it wreaks of desperation. Clearly this was another CBS sitcom that didn’t live up to the hype. Remember the Crazy Ones? Probably not, but that was a huge dud despite CBS declaring the Robin Williams sitcom as a moment in television history when all the right elements came together at just the right time. Personally I think that show’s quick demise was Mr. William’s last straw before taking his own life.
It’s not just you, it WAS the last straw sadly.
I may be wrong, but The Deadline article doesn’t name any sources and only one tweet by an involved party backs up this story. It can very easily be a ploy to stir up buzz for the show.
I like Erinn I think if you bring Leah back it’ll be just like king of queens and I got tired of that show
New creative direction? Just call it “King of Queens” revival then. Bring back Doug and Carrie. It’s sad that the current wife is being dropped even for a change of direction. There has to be a reason behind-the-scenes.
If they wanted a King of Queens vibe they actually could have brought that show back and made it totally relevant to today. Don’t create a great situation comedy and then change the whole reason it works. Erinn Hayes was what made that show funny.
Very disappointed I think they should have made it work with both characters not sure if I’ll continue to watch the show it won’t be the same without Erinn Hayes
WOW! I am shocked, I liked her, I also like Leah, so I will continue to watch!!!
Booo, bad mistake, baaaddd mistake, she is awesome . We don’t need another Leah/ Kevin show.. how rude to let this talented lady go.. rude and totally wrong. i hope to see Erinn Hayes soon, on a show where she is able to showcase HER talent. I wont be watching anymore.
She was one of the funniest on this show. Since she is gone and Leah Remini is in full time…give me a moment to delete from my Series Manager. Well, one less show to watch. Leah makes me nauseated. Bye Kevin…
