Is there a future for Kevin (Probably) Saves the World? Recently, star Jason Ritter spoke with TVLine about the ABC series’ season two renewal chances.
The comedy-drama centers on Kevin Finn (Jason Ritter), a selfish and materialistic man who must commit acts of acts of kindness to save the world. The cast also includes JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Kimberly Hébert Gregory, Chloe East, J. August Richards, Dustin Ybarra, and India de Beaufort.
It’s unclear if ABC will renew Kevin (Probably) Saves the World for a second season or not. So far, season one is averaging a .69 rating in the 18-49 demo and only 2.848 million viewers, making it one of the network’s lowest-rated TV series for the 2017-2018 season.
In the interview, Ritter says the renewal decision is still very much up in the air:
I never really know. I just hope that people watch these last three episodes or catch up. There’s so many different things in the air. [ABC has] to do new pilots. We’ll probably know at the last second. But I think a good indicator [will be] how many people watch these episodes, which I hope is a lot.”
Later, Ritter said he hopes Kevin (Probably) Saves the World is renewed because it’s a good-hearted show:
That was one of the things that I responded to so strongly in the pilot. [In] this period of time where it’s gotten so cutthroat, you [have] people online verbally brutalizing each other. It’s so easy to dismiss other people’s humanity through a computer monitor. So I do think it’s important. We have a lot of dark shows, and not a lot of shows that are… [Creators] Michele [Fazekas] and Tara [Butters], when they were talking about the show, initially, their theme was [for] it was: “Don’t be a jerk. Stop being mean. And even a little bit of kindness goes a long way.” It’s nice to have a show that shows how that can work, even if you don’t have a warrior from God prodding you to do nice things. [Laughs] You can just do it on your own.”

KevinPSTWorld is an excellent show that deserves the chance to succeed somewhere. Its family friendly with a positive message while also being incredibly entertaining. Jason Ritter channels his father’s clutsy physical comedy and brings a sweetness or innocence to his role that shines. All of the acting, the story, the story telling, and the writing- all of it is wonderful and I wouldnt change a thing. There is a crowd for this show, but for some reason they havent found it yet. One of my favorite shows, my wife got me the Amazon series so she could “catch up” with me.. we love that we talk about the show before we go to sleep with thoughts of kindness to sleep on. We both are inspired to do even more good, mostly to counter all that political “stuff” and tragic events that are typically pumped into our home.. It is so nice to have a light-hearted feel-good show to watch on TV instead of all of the heavy dramas. I love this show and hope it is picked up for a second season!

Please bring back Kevin probably Saves the World first season 2. It’s a wonderful family show with positive messages, which the world needs more of these days. I love this show!
Hands down my favorite show of the year….it would take a miracle to save it with these ratings, though (although Timeless pulled off a miracle last year…really wish Limitless would have the year before too).

I love this show. It is funny and quirky. You cannot help but root for Kevin. He tries so hard.
This is THE BEST show on the air right now. PLEASE give us a 2nd Season & how about a better time slot to help the ratings. This is a FAMILY show & an earlier slot would guarantee a higher viewing audience!
I would LOVE to see the series renewed! This show is quirky and fun. Kind of like REAPER was. Quit killing the good stuff. Reality tv is drek. Keep the good ones.
Definitely deserves a second season. Great storylines. Great chemistry with the actors. We need something lighter with everything going on. Bring It Back !

I am waiting on baited breath for this show to get a second (and third and fourth) season. It’s one of the only good things on tv anymore!! Plus Ritter is just as funny as his dad love seeing him
