Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

Seriously, your actually cancelling LMS ??? I’ve checked out the ratings and for a Friday night show this does not make sense! I cannot stomach most shows now days especially after the election, is this ABC’s ” Roll in being part of the TRUMP resistance movement”? This was the only ABC program I watched…

Very upset by this! We love LMS! ABC keeps getting rid of good family comedies there will be nothing left to watch on them. BRING IT BACK!!!!!
S. Breeden Freedom of speech for anyone other than the left side is not allowed–This is suppose to be America. It seems everyone can voice their opinions except conservatives. Last Man Standing is a fun family show and Tim Allen should have the chance to entertain America the way he has for the past 6 seasons. This is a top rated show so we all know why it was canceled. Can’t believe ABC cancelled a top rated show, oh wait, the lefties at the network must promote their politics. My answer to this brilliant move will be to not watch ABC again, EVER. Join me, there’s one thing, hopefully that might get their attention, if the 8.1 million viewers quit watching everything on the network. Come on FOX, pick it up, you’re probably our only hope, pretty sure no sleep has the guts or the desire.
Last Man Standing is the only show on ABC that I watch. Looks like I can delete ABC from my cable box now.
It’s a shame that Last Man Standing is cancelled. It is one of the best sitcoms on tv. It makes me & my husband laugh our butt’s off!! It seems it is a total political decision to cancel it. They should really rethink this decision.
I love this show. It gives an opposing view of my politics. Some thing we all need. Please don’t cancel this show. It’s smart and funny and you might actually learn something along the way. A great cast.
Last Man Standing is my favorite show. I watch the repeats on Netflix every day and continue to laugh every time. I know it is just being cancelled because it shows conservatism in a good light. This will be a major loss, and I will stop watching all other shows on ABC like the Middle and Modern Family which are not nearly as good as Last Man Standing! Please bring it back!!!

I love this show! It is refreshing to hear comments from the conservative side.. It is also balanced by the views of other family members. Will be a huge loss to lose this show. Entertainment industry is known as a liberal group of people. .For once let’s see a little balance. To say nothing about it being the best comedy on the air!?
We love Last Man standing. We DVR it. If we happen to be home we watch but we always watch it. It is so funny and truly Addtesses life now. A Trump dad and a liberal mom. It relAtes to what we all are having to deal with right now. The new Archie Bunker.
So sad, a good,clean cut show gets cut.
