Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

We finally have a good clean show to watch and you guys cancel it!?! I watch current episodes and reruns! So, let me get this straight….the late show hosts can all give their political views and no one threatens to cancel their show. But you “just can’t have political jokes that don’t suit your views”. This is absolutely pathetic. Not everyone in this world agrees with liberalist thinking. Grow up people.
I am heartbroken that it has been cancelled. To have such good ratings and not be negotiated for is upsetting. We always looked forward to seeing this show. So much more to see from all the actors. Love every single one of them. Hopefully, with all the work that has already been done for future showings we can see them on another station or netflix possibly. Netflix has been a wonderful source.
I am so disappointed that abc cancelled last man standing. I enjoyed every show and all the actors. Being a 67 year old woman and republican Tim Allen was a breath of fresh air to tv.
Heck yes Im upset. Its all my familys happy place. I watch it in the living room, my 30 year old watchs it in her bedroom with her two kids. When we sit down to eat dinner its what go on from netflix reruns. What now? I love last man standing. All my family does.

RATINGS SHOW THIS WAS THE LIBERAL MEDIA CENSORING ANYTHING NOT SUPPORTING LIBERAL DOCTRINES. THERE SHOULD BE A PUBLIC OUTCRY.
Last Man Standing was a fantastic show that should continue forever. I love it. My family loves it. I love its purpose. I love watching it, the comedy is refreshing. It’s just good clean entertainment.
Thats sad that it isnt renewed..but i guess because it doesnt contain nudity,cursing and other vile acts it was destinied to be cancelled..sad
So sad… Harder to find programs that family can watch. This was my only ABC program fit to watch and now it’s gone. Hard to see the 2nd disappear from sitcom.
I love the show. This TV series is very clever and has a lot of family values. It is a shame that this show is being cancelled for another reality show. If the TV industry keeps cancelling good TV shows then the entire TV industry will not survive and viewer will continue to use online sites to see their favorite shows which means less money for everyone. (i.e. the commercials, the actors and especially the broadcast company.) Absolutely one of our favorites that we look forward to seeing. I think this is a HUGE mistake! So tired of the other crap the networks keep putting on to view. This show is witty and just outright funny. Super disappointed and hope this is a mistake.
Last Man Standing is by far our favorite show on T.V. It is clever and funny and touches the heart. It is so fun and shows every side of opinions. Please renew this show. It is the best thing on TV by far right now. BIG MISTAKE to cancel the absolutely only show that is truly funny on TV right now. PLEASE KEEP IT.
Unbelievable! After six incredibly successful seasons, ABC decides to cancel “my favorite television show.” Best wishes to Tim Allen and the rest of the cast members of LMS! I hope that you find another network to continue with this fantastic program. In addition, after 11 years, A&E is saying goodbye to Duck Dynasty. It seems to me that the shows that I enjoy are not “progressive” enough for network / cable TV; therefore, after 28 years of patronage, I am choosing to “cancel” cable television! Don’t cancel Last Man Standing! What a mistake this is!!! LMS is a great family show that teaches good solid core values and is hilarious! I hope another station is smaller enough to pick it up. Politics at its finest. Bad decision ABC. It’s the only show on ABC that we watch. Bye bye…
It is all politics. Tim Allen tells it straight, and the big wigs don’t like it. Don’t look for any truth on ABC, they can’t handle it.
