It looks like the Law & Order franchise is staying alive — for at least one more year. NBC has renewed Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for a 17th season on the network.
Debuting in 1999, Law & Order: SVU follows an elite squad of detectives who investigate sexually based crimes in New York City. In the current 16th season, the cast includes Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Kelli Giddish, Danny Pino, and Raul Esparza.
While the show is one of the peacock network’s longest-running scripted series, it’s still doing pretty well in the ratings. It’s NBC’s third-highest rated drama in the coveted 18-49 demographic with a 1.7 rating and 7.22 million viewers. Compared to last season, SVU is down by 7% in the demo but is up by 14% in viewers.
As of last night, 356 episodes of SVU have aired on NBC — and there are many more to come.

I love this show. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL!!!!! I have related to a few of the shows. It can actually help other people. It could get other people out there to maybe help someone come forward after an attack. Please don’t take this show off. That is all they keep doing, is taking off the good shows & putting on stupid shows that are an insult to peoples intelligence.

THe only reason I would like to see the show end is if the violence in this country ends and there are no more stories to rip from the headlines. Unfortunately, i don’t see that happening. I absolutely love this show!!!
THE SHOW IS BACK FOR SEASON !8! Let’s hope all the stars are back for next year. No writing out Kelli Giddish or ICE-T. Let’s hope they find a new show runner with great ideas and the writers pick up the slack that Warren will leave behind after he’s gone.
This show is too important to cancel. So many people can relate to these
situations. You may even help someone to do something legal, because they have been assaulted and were too afraid to speak up.
