Ashleigh Banfield, anchor of the Legal View TV show on CNN is leaving that network, to take over the Nancy Grace TV show timeslot, on sister-station HLN. Watch Banfield announce the news on her midday Legal View TV show, below. Her new primetime HLN show will air Mondays through Thursdays, at 8:00pm ET. Whether Legal View will be cancelled or transition to another host has not been announced.
In late June, former prosecutor Nancy Grace announced she was leaving HLN and her eponymous TV show. The final episode of the Nancy Grace TV series is slated for October 13, 2016. Banfield will premiere October 17th.
The Hollywood Reporter published a statement from CNN Executive Vice President Ken Jautz:
She will bring her legal experience and views to HLN prime, tackling the day’s most pressing social and legal issues mixed with her own passionate point of view and spirited conversation. […] Ashleigh and her distinct journalistic style is the perfect fit as we continue to refocus on our news roots and increase our live hours of programming.

Can you guys tell me what kind of legal views does she handle, I only started watching HLN way back when they handled court cases, crime involving murders or Missing Children, I wasn’t pleased when they lost Vinnie Pollitan and Jane Velez Mitchell, lastly they lost Dr. Drew and now Nancy I was planning on getting rid of HLN thinking they were no longer going to cover such topics and since I get CNN and other news outlets I would have no need to keep the channel but if I knew Ashleigh Banfield covers crime of this nature I may… Read more »

I def will watch her, i’m sooooo over nancy grace and ashleigh offers much more professionalism as a journalist.
I love Ashleigh Banfield and look forward everyday to her perspective on the most important news of the day on Legal View. I will not follow her to primetime however on HLN. Too bad she will now be competing against other standouts in the news field, rather than bringing quality to a mid-day time slot.
Ashley Banfield’s “Legal View” was one of the better programs on CNN and it will be greatly missed. I look forward to the debut of her new show on HLN.
