At first, FOX seemed very cautious about the future of Lethal Weapon. The season one order was upped from 13 to 18 episodes and it was proclaimed a “full season”. Still, the Lethal Weapon TV show ended up doing very well for the network. Ratings-wise, its first season was a top-three scripted series, during the FOX 2016-17 television season. Can it retain or even build upon its audience in its second season on a new night? Will Lethal Weapon be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A TV adaption of the successful feature film franchise, Lethal Weapon stars Damon Wayans, Clayne Crawford, Keesha Sharp, Kevin Rahm, Jordana Brewster, Johnathan Fernandez, Dante Brown, Chandler Kinney, and Michelle Mitchenor. The comedic FOX buddy cop drama centers on two very different cops working together on the streets of Los Angeles. While family man Roger Murtaugh (Wayans) has everything to live for, is there nothing Martin Riggs (Crawford) won’t sacrifice to avenge the loss of his family? In season two, Murtaugh tries to support Riggs, while still keeping his own family in mind and trying to avoid the chaos his partner seems to seek.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/9 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The first season of Lethal Weapon on FOX averaged a 1.57 rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and a total audience of 6.536 million viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Lethal Weapon TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a third season on FOX?
*5/13/18 update: FOX has renewed Lethal Weapon for a third season but Clayne Crawford has been replaced. Details here.
It’s my favorite show on TV! Please renew it!
This is one of the best shows on t.v. and I will be soooooooo NOT happy if it is cancelled. If it is struggling then it is probably the networks fault for leave a month between episodes… hello? Nope, too of my list of shows to watch. And this is coming from a die hard fan of the movies who came into this with major doubts…. they have nailed it… so much more to do…. renew the thing!!!!!
Please Keep this show. I love it!!!!!!!!! makes me laugh every week I love them together. Riggs is the BEST!!!!!
I love this show. Look forward to seeing it every week. The story line and the cast are phenomenal.
Should renew for many seasons – great show to watch with family and friends – great acting; script writing – all the actors have a great presence in their roles please keep renewing – the best show on television at the moment –
The reason the ratings dip up and down is because they keep running reruns! They break up the current season because Fox shows all the sports stuff and its hard to keep a viewing audience when half the time its reruns. Plus they moved it to Tuesdays and it hasn’t done as well there. Most people DVR shows these days and watch them later and then they dont count in the ratings. We still love Lethal Weapon even though we are busy on Tuesdays!! Come on Fox! Give our favorite show a chance.
I absolutely love the show.
Me and my wife love the show but I can’t understand why there is an entire month between episodes 17 and 18 of season 2. Its really is a great show, practically the best one on tv these days but if Fox is trying to get people to watching it, they’re doing a great job at it. When people have a show that they love, they look forward to watching it every week.
Love the show, stories good, chemistry is great between the lead characters. Please don’t cancel.
My friends and family love this show. It still is my favorite movie of all time. They could not have continued the movie into a television show any better. Do not cancel this show (PLEASE RENEW FOR YEARS TO COME) BEST SHOW EVER TO BE BASED ON A MOVIE.
