This evening, FOX is airing the final episode of Lie to Me’s third season. Will the series be back for a fourth season or will it be cancelled? The answer may have a lot to do with how well the show performs tonight.
Last season, Lie to Me averaged a 2.9 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.03 million total viewers. This season has been a different story. The series hasn’t been performing nearly as well and FOX declined to give the series an order for the back nine, leaving the season at 13 installments. That’s often a sign that the network has given up on a series and will just use up what they have left.
So far this season, Lie to Me ranks near the bottom on the list of FOX’s scripted shows, averaged a 1.9 rating in the demo and 5.75 million viewers. On January 10th, a pair of episodes averaged a 1.6 in the demo and 5.46 million viewers. Based on those numbers you could be pretty sure that the show’s fate was sealed.

But then, the next week, Lie to Me registered a 20% gain in the demo. Last week, it saw an astounding 39% gain — moving up to a 2.5 rating and 7.67 million viewers. That represents a season high for the drama. If the series can sustain that rating tonight, it could be encouraging enough for FOX execs to greenlight a fourth season.
Despite the low ratings, the producers certainly don’t feel like the network has given up on Lie to Me. In a recent interview, showrunner Alex Cary said, “Fox has been very clear with us — they know what the show is, they know what it can do. [The ratings bump] shows that people will come watch the show.”
Cary also indicated that tonight’s finale goes to the heart of Lightman and Foster and their strong emotional bond. He noted, “We’re very happy with it. We think it will make the fans only more hungry for a season four.”

I really like Lie to Me. It seems all the good shows are cancelled. Medium was also cancelled. I love these two shows. What is the deal? The only shows that do well are stupid reality shows like Jersey Shore which I have never seen.
This show is right up there with one of the best, It would be a big mistake to cancalled the cast works greats toghether so bring on seanson 4.

This show is superbly written and acted. It is aimed at a very intelligent audience that appreciates shows that make them think. If the network dug just a bit deeper, they might find that while the people who watch “Lie To Me” may not necessarily be in the prime age demographic, they may be in the prime income demographic. Advertisers will pay for that, if you can demonstrate it to them.

I think this is a very good series right up there with “Burn Notice”. I hope the decision is to keep the show on…
I love Lie to Me. I don’t want to see it go off! They took off Dollhouse, I can’t stand House anymore (Hugh Laurie’s character for being so smart is incredibly stupid). Keep Lie to Me!
I really enjoy Lie to Me. Would be very disappointed if it were cancelled.
Glee does not suck, just because you don’t like singing, it’s a great show. Lie to me, on the other hand, not so great. Characters ok, “cal lightman” not as “bad ass” as they make him out to be. That show would not be missed. I did love the show, but they aren’t making any connection with the show, the same episode over again. You know what’s going to happen every episode. Make a relationship somewhere or something.

I love “Lie To Me”. Stop moving it around. Learned a lot. Love the characters who could be developed further. Like the role of the daughter. I work with teens. Bring it on for season 4

Please make the fourth season. I love this series, I love “lie to me”.
I hope this show returns for season 4. One of the best on FOX. I fail to understand the appeal of Glee, to me that is the worst show on FOX. I will not watch it. If FOX gets rid of Lie to me, I will probably change over to NBC or CBS after about 15 years of watching FOX.
Your right about Glee, I honestly don’t get it either. And if they do cancel lie to me, i’m not watching another new fox show.
