A&E has cancelled Longmire after three seasons. The cable channel issued a statement that said, “We would like to thank the phenomenal cast, crew and producers of Longmire, along with our partners at Warner Horizon, for their tireless work on three seasons of quality dramatic storytelling.”
Word is that Warner Horizon plans to shop the series to other outlets so a fourth season may still happen.
Longmire follows the life of a Wyoming county sheriff who’s returned to work following his wife’s demise. With the support of his family and co-workers, he solves cases and works to stay in office. The cast includes Robert Taylor, Katee Sackhoff, Bailey Chase, Adam Bartley, Cassidy Freeman, and Lou Diamond Phillips.
What do you think? Do you like Longmire? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season instead?
I’m really going to miss Longmire and the other wonderful people on the show. My husband and i enjoyed watching it together. He had to get up at 4:00am but stayed up until 11:00 to watch this show. Now he is retired and he waited for it to come back on. I’m like everyone else on this though. I think I too won’t be watching A&E as much anymore and make sure I don’t watch anything I can get addicted to. From the responces I have seen, what ever network picks this up will automatically get an incredible fan base.… Read more »
The networks win, the actors move on….only the fans lose. I heard execs at other networks were baffled over A&E cancelling a top rated show such as Longmire, simply because it was drawing an older crowd. Shame on you A&E. Well, I also will move on…to another network.
I love the story line. Both my Mother and myself have watched all three seasons. She makes sure she stays up and watches it. I make sure that it is DVR’d. What is really interesting for us, is that it is based out of Wyoming where my Mother was born and raised so we relate quite well with the terrain, distances and scenery. Please find a way to keep the show going.
Love Longmire; great show; great stories, great actors, why cancel this show. Please, please, please, cancel mindless, idiotic “reality” shows – they stink!
Yes, reality shows stink- but they are cheaply produced, directed and cast. Barely a step above a home movie. No concern for staging logistics or location arrangements. Throw a couple of cameramen in a vehicle, follow a bunch of idiots around, bleep out the obscenities and project it on the small screen. A disgrace to the real film and television professionals.
agree reality shows stink do tv execs think the american people sre that mindless
Okay•••a show with a good cast, great acting, a good story intelligently told so why not cancel it A&E?? As so many other viewers who said we just can’t understand how good shows die and bad ones just keep coming? I sincerely hope the producers are able to shop this to another outlet because I’ll be waiting to watch it again.
Why not , the Glades was canceled and you were left not knowing what happened to Jim.
Now Longmire. What was Walt going to do , what happened to Branch. Seems like A&E
doesn’t like to end a show or doesn’t know how?
One show I always looked forward to. Great stories, acting and a superb cast. Please bring it back and sacrifice a reality show for this series. We could certainly benefit from this exchange.
I as well as many of my friends watch Longmire every week and every season. Why would A&E cancel a popular Western with excellent story lines and edge of your seat drama and thrills. Bring back Longmire and the cast so that we can again be watching our favorite show once a week instead of the garbage that replaced it.
BIG MISTAKE A&E. If you want to cancel something, cancel the mindless exec. who made this decision. One of your best shows.
A&E has missed the mark by not listening to the viewing public. It has, in turn, not been responsive to the followers of the Longmire series which includes great story telling and a very talented staff. By dropping Longmire and other great shows such a Burn Notice and Glades it has turned this viewer off from A&E. What are the “suits” thinking?
A&E is giving up on a popular program instead of tweaking it. I didn’t think they had much else to offer. I guess this is goodbye to a&e. used to put out quality stuff like Nero
Wolfe and Horatio Hornblower. This program and Duck Dynasty is all they’ve done since.
How does A&E justify cancelling it’s number one most viewed show? Someone needs to go go to upper division management/business school. This is the best drama series on TV. Instead of cancelling, they should lengthen the season. The suspense of waiting from week to week to find out what happens next is so compeling that I can hardly control my emotions. Warner please find a better network to run your show, there are many supporters waiting for your announcement for Seasons Four and Five.
One of the best shows on TV, quality acting and writing. Hope that someone picks up this show , it would be a shame to lose it.
I could not agree more. If A&E won’t recognize quality, I won’t recognize A&E. Have fun with your Duck Dynasty and Criminal Minds reruns.
Good idea. I’m not watching A&E anymore either. If they continue to cancel shows that we enjoy and put on junk only interesting to young people, then it’s not my cup of tea. I can’t stand reality shows and those sitcoms. They aren’t enjoyable or funny. Good Bye A&E.
Well said, Joyce. I’m with you.
My wife and I are faithful Longmire fans. We will never bother with A&E again if they actually cancel this show! We will replace the TV time reading the original novels by Craig Johnson, a WV native and superb author.
