Tahar Rahim is headed to Hulu. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the French actor has joined the streaming platform’s upcoming TV series The Looming Tower.
Based on the nonfiction book by Lawrence Wright, the drama “traces the rising threat of Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda, taking a controversial look at how the rivalry between the CIA and FBI may have inadvertently set the stage for the tragedy of 9/11 and the war in Iraq.”
Rahim will play “Ali Soufan, a young FBI agent on John O’Neill’s I-49 anti-terrorism squad who quickly ascends to the role of O’Neill’s protege, due to his brilliance, his fluency in Arabic and his knowledge of Islam.”
Hulu has already picked up The Looming Tower for 10 episodes. Dan Futterman, Alex Gibney, Wright, and Legendary Television are producing.
