A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Don’t cancel Lucifer. If people would give it a chance they would see that it deals with making choices . Lucifer is struggling with good & evil decisions which is what we struggle with in our everyday lives. Also it’s very entertaining.
I am a big fan of Lucifer. Intelligently written and funny. I hope that it is renewed and that more people are able to discover it.
And lets not forget lucifer was wants an angel
Hi Jennifer
I agree with your comment about Lucifer being and an Angel. In fact he was an Arc Angel according to the Biblical statements, of which I believe. Once again I reiterate I think this show is great!
Whats wrong with view lucifier differently? has anyone truly seen the series because as you watch it you will realize that it is show Lucifer becomIng a part of life he doesn’t understand. The series shows how even the worst people can change if given a chance. Its based on life from a the other side. I don’t know if anyone else would agree with me.
Please dont cancel the show is great and those 1million moms need to pull the stick out of there a** the show about good and bad
Keep it.
I don’t want Lucifer Cancelled, I love this show, I want it to run for a full 5to 6,7,8,9,29 seasons.
Yes, PLEASE don’t cancel . I love the show.
All we need is 1 million ****** for the stuck up moms!
Then they might start enjoying the show… and life too!
I don’t now any stuck up moms who don’t like the show. My wife loves it.
Definitely keep it!
Please don’t cancel the show! I love the show!!!!
I like love this show. Please do not cancel it!!!! The show is not about evil but about Redemption. The people who would like to see it cancelled have obviously not watched it and have made a judgment without involving themselves in the characters or the storyline. This is not fair to the show the actors or the people who enjoy watching it.
Excellent show, I never miss an episode. Very predictable, but still awesome to watch. Exceptionally well cast and well acted. I can’t believe the decline in the number of viewers especially considering what else is on at that time. People should get a grip, it’s not like it’s real. Besides, who can say no to a charming Lucifer that is evolving into someone better. Be nice to see a little redemption.
Some bible thumper types I know refuse to watch, heck, even hear about the series, “Lucifer”. They have this preconceived notion that it glorifies evil and deceives you into believing that Satan is of no consequence. Most of that is not true. Though some of the debauchery that takes place in his nightclub, Lux, is pretty damned appealing, there is a deeper message that runs through the entire series. Lucifer resents his father, God of course, for damning him to rule hell. But the longer he remains on Earth, the more mortal he becomes and at the same time, more… Read more »
I will be so upset if they cancel this. Rarely do I pick-up a new show to watch and I have loved this one from the start. This is my reason for not hating Mondays!!! PLEASE KEEP IT!
