A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Please don’t cancel this show! I love it! It is one of my new favorites. I love the twists and the wit. It should be allowed to develop more before pulling the plug.
The dialogue is witty and dry. Love it. Lucifer’s character development is well done. Fox has a tendency to cancel shows too quickly.
It is brilliantly humorous at times.
Keep Lucifer!!! The little jabs he gives are hysterical! I am Catholic and when he was in the confessional — I died laughing!!!! Come on this show has very little violence. Keep it on!!!!
Keep the show. If someone is offended then please turn on your radio or go to the movies. It is entertaining and I would love another season

Lucifer is a breath of fresh air and it is so nice to see a different point on him. And I doesn’t help that Tom Ellis plays Lucifer, he is so adorably handsome. Now that I live in Denmark and had to do alot to be able to watch it, I would be very upset if it got cancel

I love this show. I really hope they keep the show going for at least five to seven years. I love the premise of the show, and the acting of Lucifer and the police detective. I really want to see how Lucifer continues to interact with humans, his brother and “dear old dad “.
