When Lucifer premiered in early 2016, many people wanted the show to be cancelled before they even saw it, at least in part because of the subject matter. While the show’s ratings weren’t great, they were good enough for the FOX series to be renewed. Will it do well enough to get a third season renewal? Stay tuned.
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Following a brutal murder outside of his nightclub, he starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). In season two, Lucifer and his brother (D. B. Woodside) team up to find their mother (Tricia Helfer) who recently escaped from Hell. The rest of the cast includes Rachael Harris, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Aimee Garcia, and Scarlett Estevez.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
2/13 update: FOX has renewed Lucifer for a third season. Details here.
5/30 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The first season of Lucifer averaged a 1.47 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.56 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Keep it! Its an awesome show!
There just has to be a season 3, 4 even, I’m totally addicted to this show.
Please, please renew this show for a 3rd season. Best show on TV right now.
This show is outstanding. They have to renew it. It’s the only show that I look forward to watching. Fringe and extant were the other shows I used to look forward to see.
An absolute must for renewal! Great show, great plot; long may it continue!
Please renew Lucifer, dark humor sprinkled with intelligent humor, good story lines and a charismatic anti-hero.
This show should not be cancelled it is the best thing yet keep it going the people who don’t like it just simply don’t watch it and the people who love lucifer can watch it and not be in hatred of it not being aired
This is a great show, has to be renewed! It is very different from any show out there. It is funny, dramatic, and suspenseful with great chemistry between characters.
I love Lucifer, please do NOT cancel this show. It has some great lines and funny at times, Tom Ellis is a great devil, love him!
Absolutely it shold be renewed for a third season. Also renewed for 5 more seasons. I think it is much more than a funny series. Think about it, devil is on earth as a human. It is mystical, and also maybe real. Are you sure that one of your close friend is an angel? Maybe the lucifer?
Right now it is one of Fox’s highest rated shows, and it will get a full second season. if it keeps these ratings up, it will get a third season. Is it a great show? No.
love this show
I’d be so mad if this wasn’t renewed for a 3rd season
Definitely needs to be renewed! Nobrainer!
Really like this show, but then I’m prone to like edgy and a bit risky. Writing is good, many gems from time to time. “The devil really DOES wear Prada.”
The show is taking an interesting direction with Chole being threatened by a new angel in the previews for next week. I don’t think Lucifer will let that go without a fight. Good show! Let Mom be more of a raging Mother Nature entity rather than a bimbo.
I love this show. I had mixed emotions until I viewed it. Tom Ellis is wonderful, I just wish Lucifer would show more often.
