Will a new network and night be a paradise for Thomas, Higgins, and the Magnum PI TV show? As we all know, Nielsen ratings typically play a big role in determining whether a TV show like Magnum PI is cancelled or renewed for season six (an early report indicated NBC had picked up the series for fifth and sixth seasons of 10 episodes each but we now know that it was really for a fifth season of 20 episodes instead). Unfortunately, most of us do not live in Nielsen households. Because many viewers feel frustrated when their viewing habits and opinions aren’t considered, we invite you to rate all of the fifth season episodes of Magnum PI here. *Status Update Below.
An NBC action-adventure drama series, the Magnum PI TV show stars Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Amy Hill, and Tim Kang. This reboot of the 1980s TV show follows Thomas Magnum (Hernandez), a decorated former Navy SEAL who repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. He lives in a guest cottage on Robin’s Nest, the luxurious estate where he works as a security consultant to supplement his P.I. business. The “majordomo” of the property is Juliet Higgins (Weeks), a beautiful and commanding disavowed MI:6 agent who keeps Magnum in line. When Magnum needs back-up on a job, he turns to his trusted buddies and fellow POW survivors, chopper pilot Theodore “TC” Calvin (Hill) and Orville “Rick” Wright (Knighton), a former Marine door-gunner who now runs a nightclub. Magnum frequently has run-ins with police detective Gordon Katsumoto (Kang) and the two are more alike than either cares to admit. The unofficial “House Mom” and cultural curator of Robin’s Nest, Teuila “Kumu” Tuileta (Hill) is also one of Magnum’s biggest fans.
What do you think? Which season five episodes of the Magnum PI TV series do you rate as wonderful, terrible, or somewhere between? Do you think Magnum PI should be cancelled or renewed for a sixth season on NBC?
*6/24/23 update: Magnum PI has been cancelled by NBC after five seasons.
Please keep Magnum pi and the Blacklist on they are great shows
Thank you NBC for picking upp Magnum pi series. We all need some sunshine and palmtrees. Especially in Finland. Thanks
Thank you NBC for picking up Magnum! Please keep the show going one of my favorite shows!
Best Show Ever! Thank you NBC for picking up ‘Magnum PI’! Do not Cancel the show! We look forward to this show every week! Great characters and all of the cast works well together too. We don’t mind seeing the ‘fake’ newborn baby (doll), but it works! Looking forward to the little baby growing up and watching the dynamics of all of the characters. Thank you for a wonderful, exciting and fun TV show! ~ Peace, Marc
Started watching this year after meeting an Uber driver in Honolulu earlier this year. Great combination of action, drama, romance, and humor. We watch every week and paid Amazon to catch up on previous seasons. Ensemble cast is excellent.
Glad NBC gave Magnum PI another run. The romance scenes seem a little hokey between Magnum & Higgins and I think the main attraction for the show is the action element. Need to ramp it up some. Also turn down the “background” music during dialogue.
Love Magnum PI. Very well written and acting excellent. Best show ever
I love Magnum PI. So glad NBC picked it up!❤️
We are very happy Magnum is back! Love the characters and environment. Please don’t go crazy with the “romance” ingredient. That element tends to be sophomoric in crime centered shows. I really like that Gordy has a deeper role and the new HPD guy is a delight. BTW, I couldn’t stand the old Thomas Magnum (Tom Selleck) because he whined constantly.
I love the Magnum PI show! I was so happy when NBC announced that they were picking up the show! So yes, I sure hope that NBC continues renewing the show.
I sure hope Magnum continues! I love this show!
I love Magnum. So happy it’s back
