Jessica Meraz is joining the sixth season of TNT’s Major Crimes TV show as a series regular, and Lourdes Benedicto has landed a recurring role on the drama.
A spin-off of The Closer, Major Crimes stars Mary McDonnell as Commander Sharon Raydor. The TNT cast also includes G.W. Bailey, Tony Denison, Michael Paul Chan, Raymond Cruz, Kearran Giovanni, Phillip P. Keene, Graham Patrick Martin, Jonathan Del Arco, Robert Gossett, and Jon Tenney.

Meraz will play Det. Camila Paige, who’s still recovering financially from having to raise all five of her younger siblings after the death of her parents in a car accident almost fifteen years ago. A favorite of Chief Mason (Leonard Roberts), she made a name for herself inside Criminal Intelligence before her transfer to Missing Persons. She has a personal relationship with Lt. Provenza (G.W. Bailey) from before her time on the LAPD.
Benedicto will recur as Sara Garza, the wife of a prominent surgeon, his office manager, and mother to their missing fifteen-year-old son who tries to maintain her sanity in the face of kidnapping, murder and her husband’s health problems.
Meraz played Natalie Ortiz on Chasing Life, which was cancelled by what was then ABC Family, after two seasons. Benedicto played Valerie Stevens on V, which was cancelled by ABC, back in 2011.

I love this Major Crimes! One of the very few crime shows that doesn’t promote police brutality. It’s smart, witty and comforting to think that it may be patterned after intelligent, compassionate and honorable law enforcement. Major Crimes is truly enjoyable and witty.

We love this show and we don’t want to see it canceled. We watched The Closer and then we started watching Major Crimes. The only actor that we don’t care for is Cameron Manheim. We truly enjoy the rest of the cast.
Definitely still watching. More Provenza and the rest of the grownups, please. Rusty would be okay if he would Just. Stop. Whining.

I agree with the others that are tired of Rusty. Send him away to school or something. Cast is getting kind of big!
Get rid of Rusty or LIMIT his involvement & I will come back to watch. I think I watched the first one or two this last season & got bored. Too bad, because I LOVE Flynn, Provenza, Sharon, Julio & resrtof cast & storylines. Rusty & his mom need to GO!

Yes! I will absolutely continue to watch Major Crimes. I cannot comment on the new additions to the cast, but I wish them well. I hope Camryn Manheim (brilliant actress) has been dropped only because Capt Raydor has enough challenges. Also, ok! We know Rusty is gay, so move on. Love the humorous episodes when Flynn and Provenza must dig themselves out of the deep stuff. Although I know she won’t be back but I’d still like to see Brenda in some story lines.
Brenda Leigh will be included when the Philip Stroh saga comes to a head.

Other than to give the room more estrogen I wonder how many characters back stories we are supposed to follow. It’s a great cast and good show so I wonder who will go missing from the squad. Was it contract negotiations or other opportunities we haven’t heard about?
I am watching it, but I don’t why they are adding another full time person… Unless someone in the squad is leaving, there is no room.
