TLC’S NEW SERIES “MARRIED BY MOM AND DAD” TAKES AN OLD SCHOOL APPROACH BY LETTING PARENTS SELECT SPOUSES FOR THEIR HOPEFUL SINGLES
New Series, Married By Mom and Dad Premieres Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 10/9c on TLC
(Silver Spring, MD) – Online dating, mobile apps, and matchmaking through friends may be viable options for some, but not all. When the modern ways of dating don’t work, four singles go to the two people who know them best – their parents – in hopes of finding their soulmates and walking down the aisle. MARRIED BY MOM AND DAD premieres Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 10/9 c on TLC.
MARRIED BY MOM AND DAD is a modern take on voluntary arranged marriages, based on old school tradition and real world success. Four singles who have been unable to find love in the world of modern dating, have now agreed to put their future into the hands of their parents. We follow each mom and dad through the process of meeting and vetting the potential future spouses and watch their kids meet their life partners for the first time. But the real work begins as the couples get to know what they like, dislike, and everything in between.
Meet our four singles searching for wedded bliss:
Mitch Sargent (Los Angeles, CA): a 30-year-old certified level II sommelier and full-time wine salesman, Mitch has had a hard time meeting the perfect girl in the L.A. dating scene. He wants the love and stability marriage can bring.
Marivic Febiar (Valley Cottage, NY): Marivic is outgoing, opinionated, fun-loving… and very single. A 34-year-old full-time nurse, she lives with her parents outside of New York City. She’s asked her traditional, Filipino parents to date on her behalf and choose the man that is right for her. J
John Coultrip (Denver, CO): John has had a good time casually dating, but he recently turned 31 and is ready to find his perfect match.
Christina Rollyson (Charleston, SC): Christina recently moved from her hometown of Charleston, West Virginia, to Charleston, South Carolina, to start her own travel agency and has had a hard time dating due to her long work hours. But the 33-year old is finally ready to settle down and devote her time to finding love.
Some would say these four singles are crazy, but in some cultures, an arranged marriage is the norm. The question is – Do Mom and Dad really know best?
MARRIED BY MOM AND DAD is produced by Thinkfactory Media for TLC.

What do you think? Do you like the sound of Married By Mom and Dad? Do you know anyone in an arranged marriage? Do you plan to check it out?
I enjoyed the show especially Christina and Tom. He really wants their marriage to work. He is so thoughtful. Mitch had some red flags though like why was Emily so secretive? Anyway I hope its on another season.
I enjoy the show but the fiancee of Mr. Sargent is sooo creepy. Am I the only one that feels that way?
Also, where is Christina Rollyson’s Mother? It just seems less real without her Mother or any mention of her Mother.
I agree with you about the girl that married Mr. Sargent. Something is all wrong with her. Why would he marry her with all the red flags, like not meeting her family beforehand? She is creepy – even the way she smiles – UGH!!!
How do I go about getting my son on this show? He’s twenty years old and a Christian youth Minister at his dad and I church!! He’s waiting and praying to God for that special young mature women of God to settle down with!! He’s a hard worker, and very respectful and mature person for his age!!
I personally fill that there is absolutely nothing wrong with parents finding mates for their children!!
would you have let your parents do this for you?
I am a former music producer who sheltered my daughter and am now regretting it. She is the spitting image of her mother (a former well known actress), so I sheltered her her whole life. She is now 23, a virgin she assures me and am proud to proclaim , and unmarried . I need to find love for her, without knowledge of her family money, and/or notoriety . If you can help; I feel it would be beneficial to all involved . Thank you , C.C.
I just saw a commercial with a hot blonde crying saying her “special someone is out there somewhere . ” Can you producers give her my email? Thanks bros’ IOU big time . Haha
I have a very talented and lovely 29 year old daughter. She is a strong Christian young lady. She is physically fit. And yes, believe it or not still a virgin. She believes in love and so do I. I am retired military and have been married for 34 years. We want the best for our daughter. Can your show help us?
Yes, our show could. Please call (956) 630-5090 for an audition.
I didn’t watch the program but it was mentioned on Facebook. I don’t know. My first thought was .’Just another TV show. All about ratings.’
PS: I’m thinking ONLY of good, American families where there is no coercion whatsoever! Otherwise ‘NO!!!’
Saw this program. LOVED IT! Who better than loving parents to at least interview and give their input? Very wise move, esp if the young person can choose yes or no before the marriage. After all, attraction IS important! Wonderful concept!
