ABC surprised more than a few people when the network renewed Men in Trees for a second season. Great, but where did it go?
Marin Frist (Anne Heche) is a best-selling author and relationship coach who helps women find the right man, using her own life as an example. On a plane trip to attend an Alaska conference, she finds out that her finance has been cheating on her and realizes that she doesn’t know as much as she thought she did. Marin decides to stay in the remote town (where the ratio of men to women is 10 to one) so that she can truly learn how to find and keep a good man, and write a new book. The cast also features Abraham Benrubi, Emily Bergl, Seana Kofoed, Suleka Mathew, Derek Richardson, Sarah Strange, Cynthia Stevenson, Lauren Tom, James Tupper, and John Amos.
Men in Trees debuted on September 12, 2006 on ABC. Trees followed the Fall debut of Dancing with the Stars and attracted over 12.1 million viewers. The second episode lost a third of the audience and attracted just over eight million in its regular timeslot. Despite a season of ratings ups and downs, ABC renewed Men in Trees for a second year on March 21st.
Men in Trees has been off the air however since March 8th. ABC pulled the series to make room for the debut of October Road. Trees was originally scheduled to return on April 12th but ABC has reworked its schedule more than once, delaying the return each time.
ABC has now announced that Trees fans will have to wait a whole longer to see new episodes — probably five months. The remaining five episodes of season one will now be part of Trees’ second season, bringing the sophomore year episode total to 27.
Though frustrating and unusual, this isn’t unprecedented. Grey’s Anatomy and Boston Legal both had 27 episode sophomore years. There have been rumors that ABC may change their mind and decide to air the rest this season. We’ll keep you posted so stay tuned!
Men In Trees is one of those rare sitcoms that actually require some degree of intellengence to understand and therefore enjoy. We have way too much garbage on television that only requires a 6th. grade education and a remote control to view. Leave those entertainments for Saturday mornings and give the real adults more substance, such as Men In Trees. ABC, you’re missing your market share if you let this one go.
Ok, enough is enough!!! ABC executives need head transplants…Men In Trees is refreshing & delightful. They (the money makers) need to market the show, stop moving it around or taking it off the air to make room for nonsence. ABC should rethink there position & bring it back sooner rather than later. My husband & I really enjoyed each episode and looked forward to the next. Can’t wait to see what happens between Jack & Marin, Jane & Plow Guy…oh, I could go on and on. Please bring it back!!!!!!!
Really miss MIT. Please bring it back. It was such an enjoyable show and such great writing. Thank you.
I have been so disapointed with not finding Men in Trees on Thursday night. We don’t watch very much tv but Thursday night with Greys Anatomy then Men in Trees certainly captured our attention. What a great light hearted entertaining show! Beautiful scenery as well! Get it together we do not want to wait 5 months. October What? isn’t worth a second look.
please bring back my favorite show I love show that are different from police show or crime, we will be patient, like I was very upset that Commander in Chief was cancel, why al CSI show or police show please give us back our good show.MEN IN TREES
I reallt miss MIT and want it back! October Road is cute but MIT was great writing and acting, and touching with spirit.
Men in Trees is really a wonderful show – so refresingly different. Please bring it back on the air.
Lots of people really enjoyed watching Men in Trees. Of course, the network takes it off…go figure.
Waiting for my favorite show (Men In Trees) to come back on tv has been an agonizing wait!! I don’t have a lot of free time on my hands being deployed overseas and all, but I wish I could watch my favorite show on my down time. I’m from Alaska, so its a little piece of home for me while being thousands of miles away. I’m beggin’ you here, put the show back on the air!!
i can’t believe i have to go ‘looking” for a show that was doing well. it was consistently listed in updates in t.v. guide. so, what happened??????? it’s a quirky, fun loving, well written show. it has a bit of maturity to it. what a joy! SHOW A NEW EPISODE A.S.A.P. please, stop ******** with your audience. the latest crap you threw to us was “the underbelly”. give me a break…the promos turned my tummy. respect viewers that enjoy a well written show, and air a new episode of MIT
we love men in trees it rounds off thursday night programming perfectly.Bring it back soon!!!!
Men in Trees is a reminder of the series Northern Exposure, of which I was an avid viewer. It took many years to bring back a show of this feel and I am very disappointed that they keep messing with the timeslots instead of allowing the show to run and letting the public enjoy them. How do they expect to build a following if they keep doing this? This is a great series, the likes of which I have not seen on the air in many years. Bring it back!
Ditto what Randy and LJ are saying. Must be something about Alaska ’cause I was a big fan of Northern Exposure too, albeit somewhat stranger than Men in Trees.
I was really starting to enjoy this show. I hope it comes back.
Please bring MIT back, i miss it
