The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

Please bring Miami Medical back for another season. It seems to be catching on and has been doing better in the ratings now that it follows Flashpoint. It would be a shame to cancel such a good show. It makes my Friday nights a lot more appealing. Do away with the Medium and leave Flashpoint and Miami Medical and I will be a happy camper.
Please, Please, Please CBS, give Miami Medical another shot and put it back on in September.
I’m a medical professional and try to avoid medical programs on television because they do not accurately reflect what medicine is all about. On Miami Medical, the medical professionals were more reflective of real world medical people and situations, and patient portrayals were always realistic. Why did you cancel the one really good medical show that was realistic, yet entertaining at the same time, thanks to great characterizations. Please put it back on and give the cast and plot time to develop fully. It can only get better with time.
Miami Medical is one of the best shows to hit TV in many seasons. Who made the dumb decision to cancel.
angry that yet ANOTHER hospital/medical drama has been canceled without a fair shot – loved the show Mercy too and it canceled after just one season. Television is just not what it used to be!! I should have known better than to get attached!! STUPID networks keep the retarded shows and ones that have WAY overstayed their attractiveness (GRAYS ANATOMY!!)
CBS is just wrong for cancelling this show.
I cannot believe that this show has been canceled! I am so incredibly disappointed. I watched it every week and felt that the story line and the acting were terrific. I cannot believe that I can no longer view it and feel that I have lost a Friday night friend. Please see if this show can somehow be renewed or possibly show up on another channel.
Once again the ”suits” dump quality and keep the trash such as the ”dancing w/the whatervers”, and ”americas next whatervers” etc..
This show is so much better than the one that takes place in Boston and features actual surgeries. That one has no plot or storyline to follow.
Bring back Miami Medical.
I absolutely cannot believe CBS has cancelled this really great show!!! Give it more of a chance, other than Friday night, in the spring and summer. Obviously a better night and time-slot would have made a huge difference. MIAMI MEDICAL is as great as Grey’s Anatomy–just not given the right chances to develop!!! BRING IT BACK!!!
So disappointed to learn that MM will not have a second season. Friday timeslot is a tough nite for ratings and viewership, its an automatic death sentence for new shows. MM should be given a second chance on another timeslot. Cast, writing are excellent, great medical drama. I’m so bummed. CBS please give MM another chance.
I totally agree…..Friday night time slots are a death sentence!!!!!
I should have known better than get so interested in Miami Medical, naturally it has been cancelled. It is a very good show—I dislike all the reality shows that are on and refuse to watch them.
This is a really good show, lots of action, I don’t know why people didn’t watch it.
We really liked Miami Medical ALOT, sad to see it cancelled!! Pls bring it back!
I really can’t believe that this show has been cancelled! Due to my schedule I can rarely see shows when they actually air but I record every episode and watch them faithfully. This show has a really good cast and the episodes hold your interest from beginning to end. Whoever makes the decisions for CBS on which shows to cancel apparently has no clue what people are watching. I know most of my friends really enjoyed this one! I certainly hope this decision is reversed.
I was extremely disappointed to see the show was cancelled. All of the new shows I start to watch are being cancelled. What the heck? I agree that people are going to stop watching TV altogether because once they get into a story line, BAM show cancelled. I miss having a good medical tv show. I miss my ER!!!!!!! Why can’t we let a show run for a season or two…sheesh.
I can’t believe the networks have cancelled medical shows. Trama, Mercy, Three Rivers and Miami Medical. What are they thinking? I agree that there needs to be a change on how they do ratings. Who watches shows on the nights that they air? With DVR, Tvo and Hulu why sit through the show and the comercials? Please reconsider ang give these shows a second season.
