The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.

Why cancel such a good show? Why not cancel one of those stupid reality shows? I suppose those shows are supposed to appeal to a certain target group but I certainly don’t know anyone who watches them. The people who make those decisions are idiots. I hope they have a nice view of themselves from where their heads are placed!
Another great show cancelled, just as I was really getting invested in it. (I also watched Mercy, Trauma and Three Rivers) Why do they cancel great shows and keep putting on all this “reality” crap!

i loved the show. maybe a little unrealisticm but wasvery entertaining. no violence or sex, which most other shows dwell on. i loved the sharacters. boo to the critics.
The situations were very far fetched in that no doctor acts as the ED physician and then goes to the OR to operate on that patient. All doctors, especially in larger hospitals have one specialty – brain surgery, orthopedics, cardiothoracic surgery and only operate in that specialty. In this show, all the doctors operated in all specialties. This does not even happen in small, rural hospitals. The closest I have seen to this is when an orthopedist works on feet which are normally the pervue of podiatrists. No doctor does CT scans. A technician does that. Docs only read the… Read more »
But ALL the CSI and Medical shows are that way with everyone doing everything, but they’re still enjoyable shows!
I really liked the show and am surprised it didn’t last. It felt it had a real good chance with tyhe viewers. The writters did a great job.
Decisions based on poll results or ratings based on figures which do NOT reflect the time slots or the alternative programs, is like saying the CBS guys do not realize what are good shows and do not know how to schedule shows to keep alive the gems. How am I doing, so far????
I will miss Miami Medical. The episode with the wedding and the microburst was
so original and the first one I saw. I watched every one of them after that and sad
to see it go. The ratings may have been influenced with the time it was shown, at
least in our area. It came on Friday night at 10pm. Not a good time for any show
as far as I am concerned unless you happen to be home. Hope the actors and
actresses find something else for their talents.
I liked it. I think The T.V. Networks are cancel happy these days. When they say the ratings are down I really do not think that those ratings are truly representative of all the people who are watching it. One of my all time favorite shows!!! What are they thinking to cancel it? Where do you get your ratings? Everyone I know watches this show, or watched it. I agree, give it ANOTHER CHANCE!
I liked this show a lot. Stupid choice to not give it another season. My husband even thought it was a good show. Networks base too many decisons on the first season.
i loved this show…the day i couldn’t watch it i would record it on my dvr…and after my kids were sleeping i would watch it…i can’t believe it got cancelled..i wish they would bring it back…

I love this show! It was the only show I made my daughter (who also loved Miami Medical) DVR so if by some chance we missed it, we could watch it over and over. I liked the fact that it would have an adult storyline, but it was clean enough so anyone could watch it. The stories were not far-fetched, they were very believable, and also kept your intrests. I love this show, it’s only problem was it was on to late and most people are in bed so they can go to work. Please give this show another chance,everything deserves a second chance. There are many bad shows that can be cancelled. NOT THIS ONE!!
We were very upset to find this show was shelved. It’s the best thing we’ve seen on TV in a very long time. Hope it comes back very very soon!!!
