The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.
And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

I am really sorry that Miami Medical cancelled. My husband and I looked forward to watching it.
Loved the show, thought it was sure to be a hit but then Friday nights are tough cause it’s date and family night. Give it a chance on another night then i won’t have to go to cable channels for the good shows. CBS I thought you had better brains.
I agree with everyone else. This show was amazing. It was the type of show that I looked forward to seeing and it offered a great rush of excitment every week. It would be great to see CBS give this show another chance like in the fall when the traditional time for shows to start happens.
I’m really sorry to see the show go, just like three rivers I loved both, I just think they could have been at better times in the week. I also loved Mercy. Whya re you guys cancelling all these shows. Are you people in your “demographics” shut ins who don’t know a good show when they see one?
Why?? Miami Medical was a great show. I’m very upset that
It was cancelled!!! Big mistake
Everytime I get interested in a new show, it’s cancelled. I like all the players in Miami Medical. Sometimes it is a little difficult to understand the “Brit”, but they all play nice together. Get them back on!!!!!
I had recommended this show to many friends, and it was a good one; I am sooo sorry to see it not coming back. Loved the unusual twists it had with medical issues and challenges, yet it didn’t have all the “drama” among personalities that so many med shows in the past had. We were big fans of Numbers, too. Our time in front of the TV is now not nearly as entertaining….we’d vote for another season!
My whole family is extremely disappointed that this show was cancelled. We loved it and it was actually one that my two teenagers would sit down and watch with us. We couldn’t wait for it to come on each week. I certainly hope this show is reconsidered!!
I am so upset to hear that the show was cancelled. Everyone I spoke to about it seemed to adore it =\
I’m very upset Miami Medical is cancelled. I loved this show just like I loved Three Rivers. I’m tired of getting into shows that they just cancel so quickly and don’t really give them a chance.
This was a great show and CBS doesn’t allow for folks in the midwest who get spring fever when the show started in April, along with spring sports for children, etc. This was a great show for a relaxing Friday evening and I so looked forward to it. I have a DVR so if I was busy, I still wouldn’t miss it. I even had my 18 year old daughter into watching it with me….sucks they only go by “ratings” and not “reality” of their timing, etc. Its a great show like Flashpoint!
I LOVED Miami Medical! I loved the characters and couldn’t wait for Friday night for a new episode. I’m extremely disappointed that it was canceled! I agree with Greg and Paula that ratings ARE only a temporary thing and sometimes ratings depend on what time they air the show and NOT the quality of it!
Great Show! I looked forward to watching each week! I guess if it’s not vulgar, or foul mouth it will be cancelled. Maybe it can be picked up by cable. Seems everything good is going that way.
I loved the show, and I don’t usually have many great things to say about the latest TV shows. I’m thankful I have DirecTV and can set my recorder to “find” airings. I think the networks have only themselves to blame for poor ratings. I usually can’t find the darn shows I like anymore. They keep changing their air days and times around. I just found out that the show was cancelled, and I’m very disappointed.
This has been a most exciting show to watch. Great story lines and character development. This is a quality TV show and should continue. Keep in mind that ratings are only a temporary thing.
Why do they cancel the good shows and keep the ridiculous ones. Miama medical, Mercy and trauma were very good . I couldnt wait until the next show.
