The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.

OH NO!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS SHOW. It always kept me on the edge of my seat. PLEASE BRING IT BACK. The cast is incredible. I feel like I KNOW THESE PEOPLE. Bad decision. Get rid of all the reality shows instead.
I truly loved Miami Medical. I do think it aired at the wrong time of the year. Give it another shot in the fall when everyone is settling in for all the fall previews and ready to sit back and watch some TV. The show was so interesting and the characters were so pleasant to watch and their lives were interesting. You don’t have to have doctors having sex in the closets to have a good show, ya know!
We also show and the other 2 that were cancelled. There is so much garbage on TV that it’s a shame to lose the good ones. Oh well, back to Blockbuster rentals.

I was just commenting on a post about the cancellation of Happytown & how people are fed up getting attached to a new program, only to have it cancelled after a limited run. What is wrong with the program producers?? I love MIAMI MEDICAL & see that there are many people unhappy of its cancellation. This show is intelligent, has a cast which clicks & the storylines are very exciting. Big mistake in dropping Miami Medical. The characters were interesting. Just need to give the show a chance. I agree with everyone, I am losing my interest in CBS. They give us a good show, then yank it away. Way to go CBS!!!
I so agree with Yolanda and everybody else listed above. This was a superb show (especially when compared to what else was left behind to choose from). My husband and myself are so very tired of investing ourselves in these TV shows, getting to know AND love them (we’re still so very ill at CBS for yanking The Unit!), and then them being gone. What ever happened to loyalty in this country? Seems like anything worth watching is gone before it begins, and what’s less is less than stellar television viewing. I too am very sorry that Miami Medical was cancelled. Liked the characters, like the stories … I enjoyed inviting these people into my home every Friday evening.
Every time a good show comes on with great story lines and characters the networks just pull them out from under us with no warning, or without even finishing some of the characters stories. It’s terrible and makes you not want to get involved with any of the new shows.

We are very sorry to hear that Miami Medical was cancelled. We watch all the CSI’s & NCIS’s and rated Miami Medical in our top 3 list of TV shows.
I’m sad. Sad and grouched that this show was cancelled. I like medical drama’s and so many of them have become such drab soap operas yet they continue on. I loved this show. It was real. It let you get into the lives of the characters and the patients. It was so NOT given a fair chance. Bring it back for Season 2 please and you will have the numbers….They are out there……give it a chance……..
I am so disappointed CBS is cancelling Miami Medical. It was a true-to-life medical show. I don’t think CBS would regret giving it another season. The show had a strong cast whom my family enjoyed watching. There were a lot of medical shows tv last season, so they might have gotten a better rating if they were the only one. I did also like
I am truly sorry that you dropped Miami Medical. I think it is a mistake. The characters were interesting and so was the approach to the subject matter. I think the viewing numbers need to put into perspective. The show was inaugurated at a time when spring fever was in full force especially after a grueling winter here in the Midwest. Outdoor sports were also just beginning: with Friday night ball games, outdoor walking was pleasant (unlike the current heat/humidity) and other seasonal activities competed with television watching. We absolutely loved Miami Medical and “trama” by the way. It seems that any show with
real class gets dropped. Who are these people with the voting boxes anyway? The characters
of Miami Medical were interesting & there was so much more that could have been done to
further develop them in the future. It wasn’t on long enough to even give it a chance . Our
family is VERY disappointed! Is anyone from the network listening?????
